fajrdrako: ([Doctor Who] - Ten)

Rotten day: started out with an early-morning mammogram. Poked and prodded and squished.

Then: long wait at an incredibly cold bus stop.

Then: Aches and pains of all sorts at work. Abdominal pain, headache, aching eyes....

Good evening: [livejournal.com profile] commodorified, [livejournal.com profile] iclysdale and [livejournal.com profile] auriaephiala came over. We ate lentil soup, cheese, crackers, bread, and salad, and watched the latest episode of Torchwood ("Dead Man Walking") and then episode 3 of Due South ("Diefenbaker's Day Off").

And we talked.

[livejournal.com profile] commodorified may be the only person I know who has read all Dorothy Dunnett's Johnson Johnson books, but none of the historicals. I wonder if she has read "The Proving Climb".

I'd offer hugs but after a mammogram that's the last thing you want!

And dude! Due South? I wish I had a way to watch that again. AWESOME! (Have you been watching The Border or The Guard? I download them when I can since I'm geolocked out of the websites where they're being shown "officially" and they're really good. Not fun like Due South or my favorite Little Mosque on the Prairie but good nonetheless.)

Hee! A virtual hug would be okay. *hug*

Yeah, Due South is fun. I got it from amazon.ca. I haven't seen The Border or The Guard, but I think I'd like to, if I ever find the time. I saw one episode of Little Mosque on the Prairie and liked it, even though I don't usually like comedies. But then, it isn't like other comedies!

"Blood Ties" Vicki and Mike from the episode "Post Partum." I am SO not a Vicki/Henry shipper!

Could you remind me who Mike is? I saw two episodes, but I don't remember Mike.

Here's a treat to make you forget your aches and pains. Catherine Tate interviews David Tennant on a BBC radio show. They discuss Doctor Who and more. It's hilarious. Click on "Listen again." It'll be available until 2/28:

Wow - all the Johnsons and no Francis? She so needs to read the Lymond books if nothing else. Bully her.

Paul Gross is so sweet isn't he? Almost as good as James Marsters.

Sadly, I am no good at bullying people. I tend to lure instead. We'll see what I can do about this, though. I really think [livejournal.com profile] commodorified could use a little Lymond in her life.

I'm not sure I'd go that far... but then, I've just started both series, really.

Fraser is already getting more interesting, and I've only seen two episodes.

Who coudn't use a little Lymond in her life? Lure her with promises of a semi-anti-hero with blue eyes and blond hair, who travels an amazing romantic journey. After she's seen the whole of
Buffy
this will make a lot of sense to her.

Fraser is fun. Gross wrote some of the best episodes and apparently had final oversight of the script in the last series. He's bright as well as talented and hot.

I believe she has already seen all of Buffy, as most of my friends have. I am the last hold-out.

(I am aware this might not be entirely true.)

I could turn the tables on her. As we started watching Due South and I wondered what I was in for, she said, "You're going to love Fraser. He is very, very fucked up."

So I could simply say: "You're going to love Lymond. He is very, very fucked up." It's true, every word.

He's bright as well as talented and hot.

Happy smile. All that, and Canadian, too. I am proud.

From what she said in a comment on my LJ, I think not.

Oh yes, Lymond is beautifully fucked up. Utterly skilled at it.

Yes, Paul Gross is the hot 'n sexy face of Canada.

Oops, that was me. Last night. Too groggy to realize I was logged in as her. I'm the one who hasn't seen all of Buffy. I'm not sure about her, but... I think she has.

Paul Gross: we could use more like him. That being said, he really isn't so much my type, but I'm open to being seduced by the pretty side of Canada.

Well, Canada also does magnificent pointy mountains, though I think you may be slightly closer to me than you are to them. So I'll go with pretty.

Good point.

I think some of the prettiest men are Welsh or Canadian. Don't know why.

What's your icon this time?

The icon's from the wonderful, bizarre British TV series
Green Wing
- think
Scrubs
on acid. It's available on DVD but You're not allowed to watch it till you've finished the Jossverse. (At your current rate of two a week you'll finish sometime in late 2010 I think) GW is utterly bonkers and utterly brilliant.

I never heard of Green Wing - not that I recall.

Don't worry, I won't have time to watch anything more for a while! 2010, you say? I've been somewhat afraid to do the arithmetic with a calendar in hand.

Green Wing
is as fabulous as it is bizarre.

You've done 7. There are 144
Buffy
episodes and 110
Angel
. You will want, no, need to watch them all. You have 247 episodes left to see. That's about two and a half years. But I seriously doubt you'll be able to maintain such a slow pace.

I was wondering about that comment notification, but I suspected that was what had happened. :)

Basically, I haven't seen any Buffy. And don't plan to.

Sadly, Lymond sounds as if he would make me want to slap. But we shall see.

Some people have that reaction. Incomprehensible to me, but there you have it. If you do, please don't tell me! Just lie through your teeth and say you haven't read the books, and carry on.

He's got a couple of albums out, so he could do duets with John Barrowman. [see me slyly singing the sultry song of slashy crossover goodness.]

Well, we've never met, but I'm another Johnson Johnson fan who has never read the historicals. Just reread Cookie Bird yesterday.

Cookie Bird is fun. I think Johnson Johnson makes a terrific hero. All that floppy hair and the glittering specs and the unexpected cleverness.

Here's the latest GN, more Bennet backstory. I wish we could have seen this on-screen:

Btw, I didn't realize this before, but Linda Tavarra and Abu Aswan from previous GNs are on The List:

Here's the latest; it's about Ben Franklin, who was added to the Yamagato Fellowship's hero repository. There is a lateral Bennet connection, as Jack Coleman is a direct descendant on Ben Franklin:
