fajrdrako: ([Torchwood] - Jack)
[personal profile] fajrdrako

After a mild, rainy week, we woke up this morning to freezing rain. In the time it took me to come to work, it went from freezing rain to hail to rather nice fluffy snow.

Not, you understand, that we need any more snow.

We've got it anyway.

Winter in Ottawa is an ongoing adventure.

Ahaah It snowed for a bit here too! Not much though, happily. As you said, it's not like we need more... It's still a bit of an adventure to walk on the streets...

BTW? Have I pointed you to [community profile] tammy_awards?

BTW? Have I pointed you to tammy_awards?

No - that looks like fun. A good place to browse for what's good. Thank you!

*giggles* the Tammys are fun; the two first categories for the next Red Carpet ceremony are up, the other three will probably be coming today/tomorrow.

And the ceremony? Let's say it's a sweetly huge all-muses-all-fandoms-watch-your-back-and-laugh-our-shoes-off event...

From: [identity profile] kikibug13.livejournal.com
Hee! Last ceremony, in the summer (June, I think), there was a HILARIOUS commentary going between Sylar and an OC. And [personal profile] rude_not_ginger got a bunch of the golden asses - including for, um, most hilarious couple... with another version of Ten, [profile] fluffnfreckles. And best threesome, with a version of the Rani and a version of Nine. And...
um. yeah.

the Tammys are fun.

Oh, there were people throwing pies at one another too. Oscar Wilde threw one at Snake Plissken - who in turn tried to shoot him with his gun (well, didn't try for a good aim too much...) ...
yeah. And considering that we have even more fun muses this time around, I think it will be fun. Again.

The mental images make it worth reading, if nothing else.

(Seems to me that Aral Vorkosigan would really, really like Snake Plissken... naw, I didn't just start thinking about that, did I?)

Lovely Hiro icon!

omg! I just got finished voting in the first two sections over there. XD You had me confused for a sec, too, because I didn't expect to see mention of the Tammys on my OOC flist. (...did I just say 'omg'? oh, dear.)

And hey, if the OC happens (or even it doesn't, I suppose), Ianto is always available for RP.

*loves startling people*

No kidding. I think [livejournal.com profile] pinkhairedauror has allowed you to let out the inner [livejournal.com profile] kikibug13. Either that or Tonks is infecting you and taking over your personality by her evil imaginative influence.

I've always been puzzled by [livejournal.com profile] teatrical_muse and other muse-type etiquette. It is okay to link muse items to my regular LJ? I'd like to but it seems other people don't. I was waiting to see if I figured it all out by osmosis, but I guess my osmosis isn't working too well.

Date: 2008-01-11 07:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kikibug13.livejournal.com
*giggles* Oy, I've always loved surprising people. Tonks just helped me get better at it. *looves making people laugh, over and over again*

Ah, that. *points at own journal profiles, as well as others* you may, and you can. It's a personal choice. SOMETIMES people prefer to keep their muses separate, and have people NOT be influenced by who their other muses are; others just don't mind. And sometimes some people prefer that others don't know 'that new muse' is theirs, and such.

If you want to, by all means do. Those who don't tend to have specific reasons not to. Me, I think I've linked my mun journal on all main muses profiles, and have listed the main four (well... more or less main) on the mun journal. That's fine. *prefers openness to secrecy, oh yes*

I must admit, I'm a little jealous of your snow. This has been an unseasonably warm January so far. Lots of rain, though.

Date: 2008-01-11 07:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
Sigh - everyone who doesn't have snow wants it. What's with that?

We have too much. Most of us don't want it.

Actually, most (at least two-thirds) of it has *melted* since the dumping we had last month. Right now, I would not mind a small dusting or two ... (but a repeat of that dumping would be sooo ... over-the-top).

And the Canal is still not open. It will take another week or two of deep freeze before we can skate on it safely.

Date: 2008-01-11 08:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
When I last looked, we had a dusting. But then it was raining at lunchtime, so... no more dusting. We're somewhere between drowning in the flood and making tunnels under the snow.

I try not to think about the canal. It makes me feel guilty because I'm planning to skate.

I'm not foolish enough to want loads of snow-- we get a fair amount, most years-- but some flurries wouldn't go amiss!

Date: 2008-01-12 05:07 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
Flurries. Yes. Flurries are manageable. Pretty. They fall like the gentle rain from heaven to the place beneath. And then melt, as befits well-behaved snow.

But reality being what it is, flurries usually turn into heave snowstorms leaving excessive piles of snow that get in your way and clog everything and stick around for months. Faugh. Flurries have no sense of moderation, that's the problem with them.

Oooh, great icon!

And yes, the weather was changing so fast yesterday that I couldn't keep up with it from one half-hour to the next! At least today is nice and clear. I plan to go for a walk - a bird-feeding expedition.

From: [identity profile] chili-dance.livejournal.com
Thanks! Got to love One Piece~

Bird feeding is always fun! Although I have a tendency to gather a whole bunch of birds and then scare them away with being suddenly loud. Especially seagulls and Canadian geese. Feeding the chipmunks down at Hogsback is fun too, since they find you first and give you puppy eyes until you offer bits of your food.

Date: 2008-01-12 09:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
I didn't know you could scare Canada Geese. I thought they were totally fearless and didn't back down for anything smaller than a mastodon. Maybe I just met some geese with an attitude problem?

Yes, Hogsback chipmunks are lovely creatures. As I recall, they have a particular fondness for Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Yeah, I've seen one maul a seagull that got in the way of his bread crust! But if you run at them decently fast and make loud noises, they can shuffle pretty fast.

Aww, I'll have to buy them some next time I'm there, then.
