Immortality
He kissed me, kissed Carys, and he gave me nothing. An infusion of life energy, not sex energy. He felt no lust. His compassion was useless.
His pheromones sang to me. He loved male sexuality as much as I did. Stronger than human, he was desirable by any standards. If I took his body – instead of that foolish weak girl's – we could take on the world together. He would never die. Neither would I.
I prepared to leap. I could feel his anticipation. But of what?
Then I was imprisoned, isolated, dying.
The last thing I remember is his indifference.

Date: 2007-02-22 02:11 pm (UTC)I'm afraid I've spoiled you for the ending of the second Torchwood episode, "Day One", the episode about the sex alien, should you ever see it. At least I wasn't terribly specific about what happens to her!

Date: 2007-02-22 02:32 pm (UTC)Yeah - I wouldn't either.
if you've done a bit of fixing
Yes, I'm done, finished, through with it. Slap my hand if I try to "fix" anything else. I should know when to declare a story finished and stop fiddling with it. Really! I have such trouble stopping at the end.

Date: 2007-02-22 02:15 pm (UTC)I love the piece. The alien... wasn't a PoV I'd have thought about :)
But I cannot agree with the perception of the alien. Dispassionate is the last way I see Jack, it may be just wishful thinking on my part, but it just isn't.
Of course, the alien's perspective just might be different.
(Or perhaps I just cannot imagine anybody getting more 'passion' vibe from Carys's ex than from Jack ;) )

Date: 2007-02-22 02:23 pm (UTC)I don't think the alien - speaking for the one of my story here, not necessarily the one in the episode - really understood Jack: she could read his pheromones in general, but not his specific mood or feelings. Or perhaps I'm just trying to say that the sex alien wasn't very smart when it came to humans - she saw their sexual energies but didn't understand much else about them, and just depended on the minds of those she was inhabiting to handle the subtle stuff.
I enjoyed writing the alien viewpoint. I think I want to do it again.

Date: 2007-02-22 03:00 pm (UTC)I love the concept, though I'm unconvinced it's possible!
Don't you wish there was more time in the world to just write?
