Pine isn't a flavour...

But I like it as a scent. I got this from vanilla (!)

![]() I am a quiet, fresh taste, almost more of a scent than a flavour. You will be aware of me, but not quite remember me without being reminded. Not that I'm boring; on the contrary, I'm just a little outside the ordinary. What Flavour Are You? |
I like being 'out of the ordinary'.

You know, that has potential. How about... lumberjack slash?

Date: 2007-02-09 04:17 pm (UTC)Still it could have been worse you could have gotten Death or Nuclear Waste.
I got Vanilla, apparently if I weren't Vanilla I'd be Lemon.
I think I'd've liked the ambiguiity of Almond.

Eeyeu.
the ambiguiity of Almond
What a good phrase. May I use it as a title? Dunno for what yet...

Of course you may. I am looking forward to seeing it in usage somewhere.

Date: 2007-02-09 03:43 pm (UTC)You mean you've never drunk Retsina?!
It's Greek white wine with a pine resin taste. Unusual, but tasty, especially chilled on a hot day.

Date: 2007-02-09 04:05 pm (UTC)There I was at a family party and Carey, a man of much ickiness, pous some into a glass of Coke, then 5 minutes later my mum comes by and says Oh Sweety! You can have alcohol and pours some scotch into the drink. Ouzo+Coke+Scotch != Good. Actually that shouldn't be surprising as Coke and Scotch are bad enough... of cours eI had to share this disgusting concoction with my stepsis who skulled it...
well this answer isn't long rambling and off the point or anything.

Date: 2007-02-09 04:09 pm (UTC)I like Mavrodaphne of Patras: it's a sweet Greek red wine. Utterly yummy. Mind, I'm the sort who can happily drink dessert wine with food...

Date: 2007-02-09 04:20 pm (UTC)That sounds like it might be worth seeking out. I am the sort who can drink it with or without food I have a thing for botrytis at the moment.
Though my favourite drinks are still a toss up between frangelico, drambuie and glayva.

Date: 2007-02-09 05:40 pm (UTC)Have you ever drunk Tokaji Aszu (5 puttonyos grade)?
Drambuie is OK as a liqueur-chocolate filling, but too syrup-y to drink for my liking. Glayva is a rip-off of it, and not as nice. Neither is as good as Green Chartreuse. Frangelico's OK, but I think Amaretto's better.
I haven't seen the wondrously purple Parfait Amour for years.
Goldschläger is fun because of the gold-leaf, and the cinnamon!

Date: 2007-02-12 12:00 am (UTC)No I haven't -- haven't seen it in any of the shops I tend to go to, I think I would need to go to one of the larger more supermarket sized stores to find it...
Oh gosh this conversation is making me highly desirous of wandering off to the Apothecary for some nice drinks.
Except it's 1030 -- which wouldn't matter os much as i'm unemplyoed but alas being unemployed I cannot afford the Apothecary.
Oh! One more reason to go find a job -- but notuntil after OWeek as I will be busy busy busy until then.

Date: 2007-02-09 11:41 am (UTC)I taste like Peanut Butter.
I am one of the most blendable flavours; I go with sweet, I go with sour, I go with bland, I go with anything. I am practical and good company, but have something of a tendency to hang around when I'm not wanted, unaware that my presence is not welcome.
If I was not Peanut Butter I'd be Coffee
Buzz buzz, I am Coffee flavoured.
I am popular in the workplace, even though I am often bitter. I am energetic to the point of being frenetic; buzz buzz, out of my way. I tend to overwork myself and need periods of recovery time.

I do, and I like the flavour of each. But they're both a little too... a little too brown for you.

It did, now answered, unless there was a second message that didn't get to me, which is also possible.

I have a severe temptation toward multiple puns upon this subject ... which I shall resist at this time.
I can't comment about the various (Greek and otherwise) alcoholic beverages, but I am curious all the same. Let me know if you or Tasia are holding a "wine-tasting party"; I have yet to try any of the Greek wines/spirits/etc that you and others have described here.

Let me know if you or Tasia are holding a "wine-tasting party";
I'm not likely to, since (a) I hardly ever drink anything alcoholic and (b) it's expensive. A tea-drinking party, on the other hand, I might get behind!

Date: 2007-02-10 02:38 pm (UTC)I don't think much of this quiz at all. Your "You will be aware of me, but not quite remember me without being reminded." is also right off the mark. ::kicks stupid quiz::
I've been meaning to ask you for ages, how's your Dad? I'd sort of assumed he's better, since you didn't have to pack a bag and run... I've just got home from lunch with my parents and taking my dad for a drive. He doesn't get out much these days, and it was a nice sunny afternoon, so I drove him into Valletta to look at the street decorations for the feast of St Paul, and then back along the Valletta waterfront. He was spared the sight of the unco-ordinated door and window colours, however, since we drove along the back of the warehouses. *g*

Naw. Write it off. I mean, pine? What kind of taste is that?
I've been meaning to ask you for ages, how's your Dad?
Still alive, still frail, still recovering. No real news. No, I haven't had to rush off to a deathbed, thank goodness.
That sounds like a nice lunch and visit to Valletta - such a beautiful place. I wish I could see the Feast of St. Paul! Our Winterlude is comparatively dull, especially since I don't even skate. (I could skate, really I could. But I'd rather not. Skating is hard work.)
