Last night I watched
Children of Men.
So intense.
An excellent movie, a gripping movie... I don't think I was even breathing through most of it. (Breathe. Breathe.) Amazing filming, amazing acting. It was an action movie with a great deal of intelligence, good characterization - no one was one-dimensional - and emotional impact.
Delightful to see Chiwetel Ejiofor and Charlie Hunnan, both of whom change a lot from role to role. Perhaps I saw enough of Julianne Moore to actually remember who she is; I find her looks so lacking in distinction that I can't remember her from role to role. (Sort of like Kevin Klein, whom I have learned to recognize because of his role in
A Midsummer Night's Dream.)
One of the most interesting things about this movie is that it isn't about a world without children, it's a movie about about social oppression and fragmentation.
I had
( a few problems with... )Michael Caine is magnificent in this, but I hate to single him out for good acting because all the acting was superb.
