Paul McGann describes Doctor Who as "mayhem in space".

I love it.

I'm listening to the Big Finish promotional CD that was in the current issue of Doctor Who Magazine. It feels little the way it did to listen to The Feast of the Drowned with the chapters all scrambled up: it's bits and pieces of stories, so it seems that just as I'm starting to figure out what might be going on in media res the snippet comes to an end and I'm left in suspense about that one, and figuring out the next. Of course, the whole point is that I'm supposed to be intrigued enough to buy the whole story. Which I might.

There are interviews with several of the actors who play the Doctor, but they don't necessarily say which they are, and I don't always have the cover around to check on it. So I listened to one rather amusing interview without having a clue as to who it was, trying to guess. Colin Baker, maybe? He described himself as "the least popular Doctor in all the polls, surpassed only by Willian Hartnell, who was in black and white". He seemed to be fairly distanced from the material, not much of a fan, just doing a job, and his kids are big fans of David Tennant. Well. Isn't everybody?

Paul McGann has such a beautiful voice. A pleasure to listen to, whatever he might be saying.

With age comes the inner, the higher life. Who would be forever young, to dwell always in externals? - Elizabeth Cady Stanton

I quote this because I actually don't agree. I didn't dwell in externals when young. I lived as much of an internal life then as I do now - perhaps more, since I now have less time to spend in study, thought, reading and discovery.

I think this is an individual thing, not a matter of age.
