What frightens me is that stunts like this one, and the Tina Fey parodies, might be making Palin more popular with the voters. She becomes a celebrity, and I've noticed that a lot of my country(wo)men care more about celebrities AS celebrities than they do about reality.
Oh, it is ridicule, make no mistake. But Palin was well-advised on this front and she rolls with it better than anyone I've ever seen. And that's endearing her to the American public. No one I know has changed their vote based on it, but they've all gotten to like her a little more because of it.
I was at school yesterday and kept saying "I can see Canada from my school!" which I can, straight over the Ambassador bridge. So I am obviously a foreign policy maverick. :)
