Today's photo:

Walking along Third Avenue on my way to buy groceries, I loved the look of the fallen leaves on the sidewalk.

What beautiful colors!

Not as vibrant as they were before a few days of rain, but in their way, all the lovelier for being muted.

This is absolutely without a doubt my favorite time of year (well, in NE America -- I have lived all over, and I always miss the autumn when I'm in a hot climate [blech]).

I do love autumn in Ottawa. Things change so fast and eloquently.

Nature is never garish.

It's yet another sign of a changing season, much though I wish it were not happening. :-/

I like this particular season change. I'm fine up to, say, Christmas. January might be okay, or not. February is usually too cold; by March winter is wearing one me; April is simply ugly. But it's all a cycle, and then we get May and June again.

I'm glad you like it. I like the way leaves rustle when you walk through them. I like the way they look on the ground.

I feel kind of melancholy when it comes to autumn, but the colours are always beautiful.

Melancholy? A year ago I had terrible problems because of the lessening of the light; problems that were solved with the use of a SAD light. I've always found autumn to be incredibly beautiful and it's always been my favourite time of year. But now... it's a bad allergy time for me, too. Doesn't make me love it less, but makes me wish I had no allergies.

Yes, it's the lack of light with the shorter daylight hours and the turn in weather that discourages me to talking even a short walk outside, even though I know I need sunlight exposure.

It's a time of transtion, too, which always makes me reflective!

I find that walking is always good for me, regardless of light or weather. That being said, it still isn't much fun to walk with my bad ankle. But it's easier than it was. If I get my act together I'll be able to walk to work again at least once before the snow falls.

Mind you, they say it's going to snow tomorrow. It may already be too late.

I tend to be reflective after equinoxes, too.

We've been singing "Yellow Leaf Road" [to the tune of "Yellow Brick Road"] around here the last week or two; glad you've joined in, especially with such eclat!
