My arms are sore this morning. Six minutes on the rowing machine yesterday, and now: sore arms. Doesn't bode well for the weight training session I'm about to do.
It's called lactic acid and it'll go away -- faster, if you exercise moderately while the ache is there. As I imagine you found out! Don't quit on the rowing machine. Think of it as a new pattern that your muscles have not yet fully gotten accustomed to, yes? And, if your elbows and wrists are not also sore, count yourself blessed and keep at the rowing -- but maybe not as long, next time?
Hmmph -- a little soreness, after walking all the way to Rivendell and past, and you get peeved! You certainly expect great things from your body! Relax, it's just now learning how to do all this. And I bet the soreness is already gone, yes?
You are right - and the soreness is gone. I thought yesterday that it was maybe from one of the weight machines, rather than the rowing, after all. On the theory (explained by the real fitness trainer, not Bruce Wayne) that one should only do weights and strength-based workouts every second day, I will not row today, but tomorrow, when I do weights. I think I'll do the kundalini yoga exercise "the frog" at the same time - it's a doozy for leg muscles, and Aliya wants to get me started on double sessions, now that single sessions are easy. (More or less.)
Yes, I am a little on the ambitious side with these exercises, but it's better than being complacent or lazy with them. It's a whole new exciting world for me.
