Reconsideration

Funny how things changed. On first meeting him, Mickey'd thought Captain Jack Harkness an insufferable prick, and the world revolved around Rose.

Now, as they walked out of The Black Pig, Mickey liked the feel of Jack's arm around his shoulders. Jack also held Martha, the loveliest woman in the world. Jack was remarkably steady between them. Mickey liked that. Maybe he was more like Ricky than he'd thought. He'd enjoyed the promising warmth of Jack's hand on his thigh, inside the pub. Mickey grinned, remembering. Jack and Martha grinned back.

Life at Torchwood was looking better all the time.

Boy, that was fast. And a great deal of fun. This is so... enticing!

Drabbles are fun when you want to write something off the cuff, and quickly.

A writing tactic I don't have in my skills file... with fiction. However, I once wrote a paper in two hours and fifteen minutes which got a solid A grade. That was... interesting.

Yeah, I've done that. It's a sort of envelope-pushing thing. And can sometimes be done more easily than at other times.

It flowed. I was at a computer with a connection to the university library, so I looked up papers, took pieces from them, wrote the citations, and the paper just appeared in front of me. However, it also pointed up how little the class was challenging me [g]. Still, it was satisfying to be able to construct the paper like that; felt delicious, actually. Quite satisfying indeed.

More than anything else, I wish I could do that at will - write so the words flow. I used to be able to do it far, far better than I can now, and I don't know why.

Not that it really matters. One does what one can, when one can.

[g] Thank you, glad you enjoyed!

This idea grew on me as I was writing it. Uh-oh.

I'm choosing to ignore two of those words completely...
But I liked the rest of it - especially where Mickey realises he's more like Ricky than he though *VBG*

...Two words?

especially where Mickey realises he's more like Ricky than he thought

Seems plausible to me!

...Two words?

I don't want to read them again I think they were near the beginning of the last line *sticks fingers in ears and sings loudly with my eyes closed*

Ah. If you mean what I think you mean, I was extrapolating. You didn't hear it, anyway.

Extrapolating is fine - it just came while I was feeling a bit discombobulated about the whole thing.

Hee. We shall see. What, about a year of suspense still to go? How can they do this to us?

I am so not in suspense for *that* and if I have to suffer a year of fic based solely on that premise I think I may lose my mind...

So you think Ricky and Jake were lovers? I read that there was a line taken out that made that clear. But it was pretty clear anyway. And really, who could resist Jake's blue eyes?

So you think Ricky and Jake were lovers?

Yes. Of course. Even with the line taken out... They lived together, and Jake was very upset by his death.

who could resist Jake's blue eyes?

I loved Jake! I'd love to see him again.

There was a deleted scene on the DVD, when Mickey and Jake were driving off at the end. Mickey says something about not being a replacement for Ricky, Jake tells him that Ricky was his boyfriend, and Mickey gets flustered. Of course, he had plenty of time in the parallel universe to get used to the idea :-)

Too bad they didn't leave that scene in.

Changing times is part of the fun of these shows - by which I mean both Torchwood and Doctor Who. Characters evolve. Maybe not the Doctor, but everyone else... I love that.

I think you have the best icon ever.

Thanks. I was rather proud of that one. It may not look it, but there was a fair amount of manual tweaking, especially to get the chain in clearly. Feel free to swipe it if you want. The only reason it's not up on my site yet is that I haven't posted the episode (it was from Sleeper, I think).

Whatever work you put into it paid off: it came out gorgeous. Thank you for saying I may swipe it - I will shamelessly do so, using it with joy. It's a thing of beauty.

'Sleeper' had some really nice visuals.
