Morse Bags...
Jun. 14th, 2008 01:46 pmI was most impressed by this site about making Morsbags. What a good idea. I can't think of any downside to it. Recycling and a useful product in a good cause.
I could do that.
I will do that, when I have enough mobility to use my sewing machine.
As it is, I could do it by hand now... I think.
I'd make the handles a little longer, though.

Date: 2008-06-14 10:36 pm (UTC)It's sort of odd, but every time I go to physiotherapy at the Riverside Hospital I admire the curtains they have in the rooms and covet them. They're sort of sponge-painted designs in deep and pale blue, and some of the curtains include lavender.
I have curtains from Ikea that are quite nice, a design with green leaves and red berries, but it isn't "me" in the same way, it's just adequate.
Maybe I should try buying from a hospital supply place. Who picks the curtains in a hospital, anyway?

Date: 2008-06-15 01:31 am (UTC)As do we all. Someone was making the point that they can be made and given away, or made and sold very cheaply, to those who don't have them. All as a replacement for plastic.
Currently, I am very, very dependent on plastic bags - I can't carry things in my hands so I put them in bags and can hold them while using crutches. And I need everything I can find for trash.
My friends Marion and Vicky were saying yesterday that they've been using the same canvas bag for twelve years now. It's very dirty - looks like something Indiana Jones might have used, roughed-up cloth - that gives it character! Must be very sturdy.
I was wondering about making bags of old jeans by sewing the legs together. Not by hand - that kills the fingers - but it could be done. Hmm.

Date: 2008-06-15 01:28 am (UTC)Piffle is wonderful. Truly. I come across things there I would never normally stumble across. I love it.
I intend to add a gusset so it has a flat bottom.
I was thinking exactly the same thing! It would be very simple to add.
