The woman who brought me my Meals on Wheels lunch today looked at the book on my coffee table, and said, "You like murder mysteries?"

I said I did, and I do. But the book was The Murder of Charles the Good, written in 1127 by Galbert of Bruges. I didn't have the heart to explain it was history, not mystery.

The author to look for on the subject is Farhad Daftary. He actually is an Isma'ili. (Ironically, the Isma'ili are now one of the more amiable, unlikely-to-hurt-anyone groupings in Islam.)
