Champagne
Ianto woke in Jack's bed. Jack held his silver tray, a bottle of champagne, and two crystal glasses. "We're celebrating."
"We are? I'm not dressed for it."
Jack's eyes sparkled as he poured. "Love you naked."
Ianto blushed. "You don't drink champagne."
"This morning, I do."
"Why?"
"A year ago today, I destroyed the TARDIS. Don't ask."
It was more than he had ever said about his time away from Torchwood. "A year ago? Impossible," said Ianto.
"Forget linear time," said Jack. "It wasn't real time. Don't think about it. Drink - to freedom!"
"Freedom," said Ianto, as they kissed.

Mmmmm, champagne kisses are just about the best kind.

Date: 2008-05-09 09:09 pm (UTC)I love it when Ianto blushes, too. As I read it: Ianto has no shame (which makes him a good partner for Jack) and is seldom embarrassed, but any sign of attention, love or lust from Jack makes him flush like mad.
Jack destroyed the TARDIS (sort of) at the end of "The Last of the Time Lords". So it (along with history) could be repaired by the Doctor.
champagne kisses are just about the best kind.
Ianto would agree.

Date: 2008-05-10 03:58 am (UTC)I love characters who can move through time. There is always that thing of we create our own reality and there is always the ... shoot, I'm gonna go with a sociological concept here, but it's a logical one, so it shouldn't make you too nauseated... phenomenological aspect of every event having as many true realities/interpretations as there are people who were there to experience it. And then memory comes in. And then... well, gee, it gets fun then, is what.
I like how you said all that in dialoge and suggestion. Yay. This was delightful.

Date: 2008-05-10 04:04 am (UTC)And yes, I liked the 'phenomenological' aspects to this - that Jack's timeline and Ianto's timeline don't match each other, but that doesn't bother Jack in the least. (And it merely perplexes Ianto a little.)
