It's m again - just heard from Elizabeth who has seen her own doctor. He said that it was a bad break but so far she is healing well. She's coming home tomorrow and is currently having a day of learning how to get along on one foot. Will be visiting her later and will print out all of your messages to cheer her up!

Yeah for coming home!

1) Will she be spending most of her time at her place or at your place?
2) Will she have problems going through metal detectors? Is there a card you can get for something like that?

2. Nope, I've never had any trouble.

Hiya L - Hard to say at the moment. We've already talked about getting her comfy on the couch during the early days to watch Capt Jack, Buffy, et al, but no doubt she'll be wanting to visit with her friends too, and she'll be able to go back and forth. She had crutch and other necessary lessons today and, as you know, both P and myself are in the same building and between us we've pretty much worn a path between our places.

Dunno about metal detectors. Generally we never have to go through any except when flying, and I can't think of a single other instance where it would be necessary. Oh, maybe at Parliament? But I don't think she'll be going there till friends from out of town might want to go.

Depends on how sensitively the metal detector is set. My brother-in-law has a plate in his skull (rather interesting souvenir from a fall while working on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico), an artificial knee (souvenir from either that same fall from the sky, or from one encountered while working with Ringling Bros. Circus), and a handful of screws holding one ankle together, and he rarely sets them off. He does carry a card from his doctor. When I had two posts implanted in my jaw several years ago, I got a letter from the surgeon to carry through the airport metal detector... almost disapponted when I didn't set it off. So... yep, it varies.

Yeah for coming home!

Amen to that!

I don't think I can use [livejournal.com profile] maaseru's bathroom or get around her place with my walker. So I'm stuck down here for a while.

Will she have problems going through metal detectors?

We shall see. I don't think this is a common problem in Ottawa.
