It's m again - just heard from Elizabeth who has seen her own doctor. He said that it was a bad break but so far she is healing well. She's coming home tomorrow and is currently having a day of learning how to get along on one foot. Will be visiting her later and will print out all of your messages to cheer her up!

Yeah for coming home!

1) Will she be spending most of her time at her place or at your place?
2) Will she have problems going through metal detectors? Is there a card you can get for something like that?

2. Nope, I've never had any trouble.

Hiya L - Hard to say at the moment. We've already talked about getting her comfy on the couch during the early days to watch Capt Jack, Buffy, et al, but no doubt she'll be wanting to visit with her friends too, and she'll be able to go back and forth. She had crutch and other necessary lessons today and, as you know, both P and myself are in the same building and between us we've pretty much worn a path between our places.

Dunno about metal detectors. Generally we never have to go through any except when flying, and I can't think of a single other instance where it would be necessary. Oh, maybe at Parliament? But I don't think she'll be going there till friends from out of town might want to go.

Depends on how sensitively the metal detector is set. My brother-in-law has a plate in his skull (rather interesting souvenir from a fall while working on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico), an artificial knee (souvenir from either that same fall from the sky, or from one encountered while working with Ringling Bros. Circus), and a handful of screws holding one ankle together, and he rarely sets them off. He does carry a card from his doctor. When I had two posts implanted in my jaw several years ago, I got a letter from the surgeon to carry through the airport metal detector... almost disapponted when I didn't set it off. So... yep, it varies.

Yeah for coming home!

Amen to that!

I don't think I can use [livejournal.com profile] maaseru's bathroom or get around her place with my walker. So I'm stuck down here for a while.

Will she have problems going through metal detectors?

We shall see. I don't think this is a common problem in Ottawa.

Hello, foot.

Be good to Elizabeth, okay?

Thank you for the good thoughts. Yes, home is good. My own living room with all my fannish stuff! But I seem to spend an awful lot of time just sleeping.

Glad to hear she's coming home. I really hope that she recovers well.

I have come down with a nasty spell of hacking and sneezing -- a sinus cold. Since I hardly want to give her that, any contact will have to be by telephone till sometime next week.

I also spoke to Lyn today (though I did so, sadly, before I read this). She is going out of town tomorrow for family reasons and will not be back till Monday next week or so.

Alayne (and I think Beulah) have been reading the Dunnett-list and are more up-to-date about E's situation.

Tell Elizabeth I send my best wishes and virtual flowers and chocs. I've been offline due to no phone service for two days or I would have sent this sooner.

All virtual flowers and chocolate happily accepted at any time! I was missing everyone when I was stuck in the hospital.

Glad to hear she'll be home soon.

Remember how I said all was well at work? Well it is except for one *tiny* thing: the petty cash may be in Elizabeth's bag or purse. And we need it. Badly. Would you be so kind as to check and contact the theatre as soon as possible? Dial extention 234 to get in touch with Beth (8:30am - 4pm).
Thanks!

Er... you got the petty cash envelope now? Gord picked it up today.

I hope you all miss me because I'm missing you. The theatre seems far away.

Thank you, yes, we've got the petty cash and we're all happy again.

We are missing you very much. Do you know it's taking three of us to try and cover your position? Yup. It's true.

As Molly Moo would say, "Stay warm and eat toast."

Hugs!

Keeping warm: check.

Toast: check.

Keeping entertained: well, mostly.

Eager to go back to work: you bet! Can't believe how I miss doing things.

I think they need to change your meds, sunshine. No one should be eager to go back to work.

On a serious note: I empathise with your lack of freedom in mobility.

On an irreverent note: Kick back and write some killer fic!

No one should be eager to go back to work.

I can't believe I heard those words coming out of my own brain.

lack of freedom in mobility.

Yeah. Freedom in time, none in space. A trade-off and not a good one.

Kick back and write some killer fic!

I hope to! The pills seem to interfere - not with the creative process but with the actual putty-words-on-screen process. I'm hoping this will pass.

Hmmmm, maybe you need to tape record your thoughts and story fragments now for transcription at a later date? At least that way you're still creating and expressing your ideas.

I don't work well orally. I mean, verbally. Better to hold it in my head till the words can be written down.

I'll try writing something today and see what happens. I did manage a drabble two days ago, so there's hope!

Ohhh...tell her to try and get one of these if she can:

Apparently they're WAY better than crutches. I wish I'd had one when I broke my foot.

Glad to hear the news...and wincing in sympathy over that "learning how to get along on one foot" bit. Been there recently, for other reasons, and it was not fun.
