I am always amused when I look at the Yahoo! TV guide listing and see Doctor Who described as "Family-oriented program about a time-traveling physician."

Um, well, yes, it is that. Sort of. But that isn't how I'd describe it. Maybe "Adventures in time and space with an unusual alien who likes humans" - so, I suppose that could imply he likes them to eat. "Travels in time and space with a well-meaning alien who doesn't quite know how to make his spaceship behave". Or... "Lonely god seeks human companionship for unexpected adventures." No, that's a personal ad, Time Lord Style.

I think I see their problem.

Anyone have some good suggestion as to how to describe Doctor Who (politely) in a sentence?

Point. And I love them both. Together.

(and your icon. What's it from?)

Thank you; or rather thank [livejournal.com profile] _karmageddon_. I think it's from "The Unquiet Dead".

Yes, that would make sense - the candelabra in the funeral parlour. I love it! Composition and all. Thanks for pointing me towards [livejournal.com profile] _karmageddon_'s LJ.
