Now, wasn't "Powerless" an episode title on Life just a few weeks ago? Is this the consequence of the writers' strike, that they're conserving titles is case they run out?

So we've reached the end of vol. 2.

  1. I hope Niki is gone for good. I hope Monica is never tied up and weeping and begging to be released again. Micah is wonderful and I love his power.

  2. I don't think Nathan is dead. Bennet and Maya have both recently been shot and recovered. When he was making his speech it seemed inevitable that he would be shot. It was a 'shoot me' speech if ever I heard one. He just about paused for the bullet.

  3. Sylar is empowered again. I'm sorry, but not surprised. I still don't like Sylar.

  4. I like Elle. I hope she turns to the good and continues to be interesting.

  5. Hiro! Wonderful. Loved him this time. Just loved him. Including his revenge on Adam.

  6. What is Bennet going to do? Is he really going to work for Bob again? I don't think so.

  7. I hope we've seen the last of West. I was sorry Maya recovered. I don't think I like any of the new characters except Elle. And she is, just slightly, coasting on my love of Veronica Mars. It inclines me to give her the benefit of the doubt.

  8. Loved the reunion of Nathan and Peter. Those two are so mushy.

  9. All in all, looking back on vol. 2, I didn't like it nearly as much as vol. 1. It had its moments, but none of my favourite characters were in fine form - e ven Bennet, I'm sorry to say. Mohinder was mostly pathetic. Matt was great, as was his father. Nathan and Angela Petrelli were marvellous, but Peter didn't have a clue, he was so gullible.

  10. What has happened to Caitlin? I thought Peter was going after her to save her. Has she disappeared, never to be seen again? Or will he make her a quest? (I hope not.) Can he just send Hiro to fetch her, return her to Ireland, and that's that?

I have to watch the end again online, but I think it was Bennet that carried out the hit on Nathan. He's back with the company to keep Claire safe. In for a penny, in for a pound. As for Caitlin, once Peter prevented the release of the virus, that timeline ceased to be. She's probably back in 2007 Montreal, which is where she and Peter were prior to the time trip.

From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
Well, that makes sense - what clues made you think it was Bennet? It would fit what we saw of him taking leave of his family, and would be just the right kind of deal-with-the-devil the Company would give him in return for his demands that they leave Claire alone. (But why trust them to keep their end of the bargain?)

Caitlin being in 2007 Montreal makes sense, too. Probably wondering where Peter's gone.

First, Here's the latest GN:
http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/novels_display.shtml?novel=62

Second, after the shots are fired. Matt looks up and they make a point of showing us a man walking away from the crowd. His back is turned, but he's got Bennet's walk, and others have sworn it's the back of Coleman's head. I'll look for confirmation in Behind-The-Scenes stuff.

I like the idea, and it makes sense, given what we've seen.

But at this rate every one of our heroes will have shot another one of our heroes.

If it was Bennett, he'd know that Matt could hear him thinking if he directed his thoughts. I'm guessing that if it was Bennett who shot Nathan, it was a set-up.

From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
Could be. It will be interesting to see how this theme develops.

Seems to me that whoever did it will have Peter on their trail pretty fast. With or without Molly.

My current suspicion is that the Bennet thing is a set-up and a red herring, and that it was actually someone else who shot Nathan. It might have been Sylar posing as Bennet, if he has his powers back.

From: [identity profile] dargie.livejournal.com
I don't think it was Sylar. I am going with Bennett because it would make sense that it's the thing Bob would send him to do, but Noah, knowing that Matt would hear him, could have alerted him to the plot, thus saving Nathan's life. They'd have to make it look good, though.

From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
I like that scenario. I do wonder what they're planning to do with Sylar, though.

I also really like Bennet and Matt as a team, so I hope we get that back again.

Sylar can't pose as Bennett. He killed Candace in the "real" timeline, in Mexico, but couldn't absorb her powers because he'd already lost his.

Date: 2007-12-04 05:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
I'm not convinced Candace is the only shapeshifter. Or that he didn't have enough contact with her to acquire her powers. But you're right, there are no clues in that direction, and it looks implausible.

Pity, because shapechanging is one of my favourite powers, and I wish someone was there to do it.

Date: 2007-12-04 07:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dargie.livejournal.com
But he doesn't take powers by being around people the way Peter does. He actually has to open their heads and get their brains. I do not want to know what he does with them. :\ And he tried to get Candace's power which means he didn't already have anything like that. It didn't work.

There'll be another shapechanger eventually, methinks. I love the power, too. It's the one I'd choose.

Date: 2007-12-04 09:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
You're right about all of that; I was just hoping there was something we hadn't seen or didn't know. Or that Candace wasn't really dead. Or even that Peter had met her!

Mind you, she wasn't a shape-changer, strictly speaking, but a caster of illusions. Maybe we'll still get a shape-changer.

Date: 2007-12-04 11:34 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dargie.livejournal.com
Well, since actual shape-shifting is a classic, I expect we will meet one sooner or later. I hope so, anyway.

Is that the end of the Heroes season? That seems early.

I stopped watching sometime in Oct. I just didn't like it the way I liked the initial arc. *shrug*

Date: 2007-12-04 01:49 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
No, I didn't like it the way I liked the first season story either. I didn't like the characters as much, except Nathan and Angela, whom I liked more. I kept watching and I was enjoying it, or so I thought, but last night my reaction was, "Is that all there is to this story?" and I wasn't impressed. And I realized I don't care if I watch the next volume. Which is too bad.

It isn't the end of the seasons, it's the end of the 'volume', Kring has said that it isn't meant to be one volume per season. And the writer's strike complicates things. I'm not sure what will happen to it now.

My understanding is that the most recent episode is at this point in time the end of the episodes they have scripts for.

i.e. If the writers strike ends soon there will be more new episodes this season. If it is not resolved soon, there will not be any more new episodes until next season or whenever its resolved.

Er if that made sense.

So basically no more new eps till strike is over.

Date: 2007-12-05 01:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
What I hope for, then, is a quick and happy ending to the strike. And then the writers are all happy and enthusiastic and write some really terrific stories for vol. 3.

From: [identity profile] dargie.livejournal.com
This season would have been far better if they'd had the time to develop the storylines. But with the strike looming, I think they did a decent job of getting all the information to the audience. Nothing elegant, but the job got done. I suspect that had it run a full season I wouldn't have spent so much time wanting to slap Mohinder, Maya, Claire and Peter.

Date: 2007-12-04 03:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
Mostly I wanted to shoot Maya. I was soooo disappointed when Mohinder revived her.

I wanted Claire and Peter to get their brains back.

I want Mohinder to show any iota of common sense. I think I've given up on him showing any brains. I live in hope.

Maybe you're right, that it needed more time. I think volume 2 was comparatively lacklustre.

Don't care about Nikki. I really just don't. : shrug :

True enough. I think he'll be fine. Sure, he may be under Company control for awhile... but he'll be fine. Claire will know what happened, and she knows what her blood can do. If nothing else, anybody REALLY think she'd just let her blood-daddy die? Nah. Not even if adoptive-daddy did it. Which I'm sure he did.

I don't like Sylar only because he had Mohinder heal Maya. Bad form, Sylar! We almost had the bitch DEAD! Double bad form on Mohinder for being stupid enough to do it. I hate that so much pretty is wasted on so much stupid.

Hiro! Wonderful. Loved him this time. Just loved him. Including his revenge on Adam.

Dark and yet somehow classy. Very well done.

I hope he forgets her so we all can.

Don't care about Nikki. I really just don't. : shrug :

You know what bugs me about Niki? She keeps promising Micah that "everything will be all right, I promise" and then terrible things happen - his father dies, for example. If I were Micah I'd never believe anything she says. Mohinder does the same thing with Molly. False reassurances aren't reassuring! They'll just teach the kids that adults lie, and the world is even scarier than it looks.

These things may be true, but that isn't the way to teach kids about it.

I don't like Sylar only because he had Mohinder heal Maya. Bad form, Sylar!

I do wish he hadn't. Not just that I want Maya dead - also because now Sylar can acquire her killing power. Yuck.

Dark and yet somehow classy.

Yes, exactly.

I hope he forgets her so we all can.

I don't want to see her again but I also don't want Peter to wander the world leaving lovers forgotten and abandoned behind him. As long as he sends her a plane ticket back to Ireland and a good-bye note, I'm happy.

I can go along with that. He just needs to take a breather and NOT fall into bed with the next woman he meets. He should be saving himself for Claude anyway.

Since I like Peter sex scenes, I have no problem with his falling into bed with all and sundry. I jsut wish he'd pick more interesting people. On the other hand, if they're all going to be killed off in short order, maybe it's better if he goes for pointless people....

He should be saving himself for Claude anyway.

Good point.

Claude! Come back! Peter needs you!

Seems to me they're trying very hard not to reveal much! Most of the comments are very interesting (though vague), but I'm sorry to hear Sylar is going to be a large part of it, since I'm not much of a Sylar fan. But I did expect him to be back: his role is already so significant that it's inevitable.

I'm not a Sylar fan, either. I'm basically watching for the Bennets, the Petrellis, and Hiro.

Absolutely. They are the ones worth watching. I also have my eye on Elle - don't like her, but I think she has potential.
