Interesting interview with Christopher Eccleston in SCI FI Weekly. His wry, noncommittal style always makes me smile. For instance:
Question: What compelled you to sign on for The Dark Is Rising?
Eccleston: It was paid work.
Really, I'm sure they'd give him more paid work as Claude on Heroes, and I'd love to see it.
Question: What did you make of working with your director, David Cunningham?
Eccleston: Mr. Cunningham and myself are very different animals, but we got the job done.
I still haven't entirely decided whether I want to see The Seeker - and I must say, I'm glad they renamed it, it makes it feel less like a corruption of the book. On the other hand, why do I care? I didn't much like the book. But... on principle, I care.

So why go to a movie about a theme I don't like, with trailers that didn't draw me, from a book I didn't like? Because it's Christopher Eccleston, of course.

With, I predict, not much screen time.

But though nothing else in the trailer appeals to me, Eccleston looks irresistible.

Speaking as a huge fan of the book, I'm also very glad they renamed it. And yeah - even disregarding the book, it doesn't look like an interesting movie. But as much as I hate what they've done to the book, and as much as the movie doesn't interest me...Christopher Eccleston!

*facepalm* Wonder if I can wait for the DVD and only watch his scenes?

Though I wasn't a great lover of the book, I think it would be a terrific movie just as it was. So why'd they mess with it?

And, yeah, Christopher Eccleston.

Yeah, I'll go for the DVD, I think, and use fast-forward to his scenes.
