I learned a new word today: ophidiophobia - fear of snakes. Not something I suffer from; I like snakes very much indeed. I think they are beautiful. I ought to be in Slytherin House.

But it's great to know the word now.

Interesting.

Now I at least have a name for my biggest fear. LOL

I think I have more friends who fear snakes, than who love them.

That's sad! It's like people saying they fear birds (and I've encountered that, too!) They can be so pretty!

I have my own blind spots - I don't much like fish, however pretty or colourful, or however graceful their movements. But it isn't that I'm afraid of them - I just don't find them attractive to look at.

I have a problem with spiders and creepy-crawlies, but that's because other kids used to put them in my desk and down my neck when I was at school.

Yuck! I never had that problem, but I generally find all insects and such things ugly. Not a phobia, just an aesthetic distaste.

Some are pretty. I like moths and butterflies, and some beetles (especially the iridescent ones).

Ladybugs are pretty enough. And some butterflies, as long as I don't look at their legs.

They are, indeed, lovely animals.

Yes. I'm always impressed by how quick and graceful they are. It amazes me that any creature can run so fast, with no legs.

I suppose that might make you an ophidiophiliac.

An ophidiophiliac - yes, exactly! Except it sounds like a horrible disease. Something one might contribute money towards research for the cure of.
