Yesterday I posted about going to see Beowulf performed by the Ottawa Stilt Union.

My photos are blurry and sadly overexposed - it was very sunny! - but here they are:

Aw, you're lucky. My entire shoulder is burning. I'm rubbing aloe into it like crazy, but it's very red.

I took a seminar in Beowulf (just Beowulf) in grad school. And I was just going through a box of old comics and found two issues of Beowulf: Dragon Slayer. Synchronicity?

I do love synchonicity like that - ! Yes, it was a very sunny, hot day, which was welcome after we'd had a few cold, rainy days last week. Yo just never know what the weather will be these days.

I ran across something amazing in the book store last week: a new translation of Beowulf, with side-by-side pages of the original and the translation. Thought of you instantly. Want it? ...You can have it when I'm done!

Who did the translation? Is it really a new one? How wonderful!

Howell D. Chickering. Apparently, this translator did a version in 1977 also. This one is 2006, apparently with some changes. "Dual-language" is the term, I see. Yep, it's wonderful.

I remember you talking about it. The show was magnificent - it reawakened all my dormant Anglo-Saxon love. Hwaet! I wish I could see it again.
