The Doctor Dances
Owen found Jack on the roof of the Millennium Centre. What the hell was he doing up there? Stargazing?
"I'm listening to the city," said Jack. "Listen. Up here, you can hear everything."
All Owen could hear was the fucking wind freezing his ears. Then he heard the distant music, the kind Diane loved.
"Dance with me," said Jack.
"No."
But Jack took his hands as if he hadn't heard, and they danced. Owen had not done this since he gave Diane the red dress.
Jack wasn't Diane.
The tears dried on Owen's face as he danced in Jack's arms.

Date: 2007-05-03 03:25 pm (UTC)So here, unable to use the right sort of Doctor dancing, I fell back on the one doctor we do have on the Torchwood team, and voila!

Date: 2007-05-03 03:20 pm (UTC)This works surprisingly well - 'sweet' and 'Owen' don't normally belong in the same thought without a negative, but I liked it a lot. Gentle and, yes, sweet, without being cloying.

Eeee! I would think not!
Gentle and, yes, sweet, without being cloying.
Thank you so much. Yes, that was the tone I was aiming for.
