My ex-husband pointed me in the direction of a fascinating artist: Rob Gonsalves. Apparently he illustrates books for children. He's new to me.

Exactly! It's archtictural, but naturalistic too. An interesting combination. Maboroshimaki pointed out art deco influences too.
