A new voice in my home...

I was sitting here working on a Clex story and I heard peeping from the bird cage right behind me. That's nothing new: I have four noisy feathered guys who have a lot to say and like to say it.
But this peeping was a new voice.
This peeping is coming from the nesting box that Wisdom has been sitting in for a few weeks.
This peeping is.... Unfamiliar. Certainly not Wisdom's assertive voice, or Simon's loud chirp. This is a tiny sound, rather like a cricket. I suspect I couldn't hear it on the other side of the room.
I think someone hatched.
I can't see the baby; I don't want to disturb anyone by looking into the nesting box with a flashlight. But -
Either Wisdom has adopted a cricket or I have a fifth budgie.
Oh my goodness.
Is that why Wisdom was looking so happy and smug when she popped out of the box this morning?

Date: 2003-06-28 07:36 pm (UTC)It may be a while before I get to see the baby. Wisdom emerged from the nesting-box, a little unsteady on her balance and not quite able to fly. I guess it's been a busy, tiring time for her.
I wonder if the other eggs will hatch.
Meanwhile, the adorably squeaky peep-sound continues periodically.
