Boxing day 2006...
Dec. 26th, 2006 09:24 pmAs on the best of days, I started the day with writing a story. I didn't quite finish it, and almost made myself late to catch a bus; luckily
After brunch, we played Scrabble. Eleanor (aged 9) and I played as a team. We lost to David who, as it turns out, plays Scrabble in his lunch break on a consistent basis and is well in practice. And he accused me of playing harcore Scrabble. Hah!
In the afternoon I went to Sheila's, where we had a lovely turkey potluck dinner with Harry, Lyn, Tasia, Peter, and Owen. We watched My Fair Lady, which was my Christmas gift from Beulah. Loved it as much as ever.

Am way too dopey this morning, because as I saw this I saw myself right there, wondering what I was doing there, pretty much certain I hadn't been there but confused enough to then wonder how I could forget. Must have had too much sleep. However, after dropping you off, I found on an Elgin Street otherwise closed down for Boxing, that The Mayflower provided a lovely bowl of oatmeal that was definitely up to your standards. :>

Date: 2006-12-27 04:29 pm (UTC)I too have enjoyed the Mayflower restaurant, though I haven't been there since 1999 (when I left Ottawa originally). I hope to bring some of my out-of-town friends there someday.
As for me, I had an unexpected present when my boss said I had Christmas Day off after all -- the e-mail advising us of this was sent on a mailing list to which I was supposed to have been added but wasn't. Alayne wasn't happy at this last-minute news, but she managed to fit me in with her in-laws ... it was particularly appreciated as I had not seen *them* in years either.
And a Happy Christmas to all!
