As on the best of days, I started the day with writing a story. I didn't quite finish it, and almost made myself late to catch a bus; luckily [livejournal.com profile] maaseru came to my rescue and drove me to Lisa's place, where I had a lovely brunch with her and David and the girls. Bagels, smoked salmon, sheep cheese, and grapefruit - the last in honour of my mother, who loved grapefruit. Yes, she'd been dead for twenty-five years now, but Lisa and I remember.

After brunch, we played Scrabble. Eleanor (aged 9) and I played as a team. We lost to David who, as it turns out, plays Scrabble in his lunch break on a consistent basis and is well in practice. And he accused me of playing harcore Scrabble. Hah!

In the afternoon I went to Sheila's, where we had a lovely turkey potluck dinner with Harry, Lyn, Tasia, Peter, and Owen. We watched My Fair Lady, which was my Christmas gift from Beulah. Loved it as much as ever.
