I went to see The Queen with [livejournal.com profile] walkingowl. It was an oddly moving and oddly ambiguous movie. Subtle. Smart. Might have been written by Tony Blair's PR men, except that they weren't shown in an entirely favourable light.

The movie is about the reaction of the Queen and the Royal family after the death of Princess Diana. I got tearful more than once - especially in the stag scene - but I also wanted, on several occasions, to shout at Queen Elizabeth.

I saw it this afternoon, hadn't read your post yet. I didn't grasp what the time period was before going, despite all the piffle posts, & was waiting for it to get past the funeral for something more current to happen. Didn't realize I would get a headache from tears, just like when I watched the funeral.

Coalboy, having signing-in trouble

No, I hadn't understood that from the Piffle posts either. I knew Diana's death was a factor in the story, but I didn't know it would be the frame of the story. I also knew Tony Blair was featured. That was about it.

Aww! Hope your headache is better now. I got teary at several points, but no headache, I'm happy to say.

Probably over-all stress and the excess salt on the popcorn. It did go away to the point of not noticing it when distracted, like catching up here or listening to the news.

Salt on the popcorn? I am still counting myself a saint (if not a matryr) because I had no popcorn, and buttered, salted popcorn is my favourite food, especially in movies. But. I'm taking my diet so seriously I'm eating no unnecessary food, and the result is a life without popcorn - at least temporarily.

Yes, but losing weight is a lifestyle-changing thing, not a temporarygiveupthisfood thing. You've been so helpful on 'trim!

I don't think I'll ever train myself away from a love of popcorn - nor do I particularly want to! But I will try to make it an occasional pleasure, not a constant. Avoiding excess. (Not that I don't think the phrase "excess popcorn" is an oxymoron and utterly impossible.)

I'm glad I've been helpful on 'trim. This week is going well so far in terms of food and exercise. I'm at that dreaded six-week point and feeling just as dedicated as before - thank goodness!
