Squeaker...

I took a photo last night of Squeaker, the sweetest guinea pig I know.

Now, her eyes are really red, not yellow, that's the effect of the camera and flash. But the rest is right, including the reddish fur on her nose and her back. Isn't she a sweetheart?

And a note for [livejournal.com profile] monsieureden: Squeaker sends a squeaky 'hi' to Honey.

Awww, cute

And yes, she looks like a purring tribble.

That she is. A curious and hungry one.

A guinea pig who has adventures in space and time? Squeaker might like that...

It's an interesting thought...
The Doctor's new companion is... very small, furry, and communicates in squeaks!

I'm not sure whether that qualifies as 'never talking back to him' or talking back to him all the time.... But why not have a guinea pig on the Tardis?

It's a cute idea. And the squeaks would be translated by the Tardis, of course!

Of cousre. Into what would probably sound like a northern accent.

I'd expect a guinea-pig to have a South American accent!

It's hard to tell, with squeaks.

And I love the glowing demonic eyes...

P.S. Not noisier than budgies, of course. Not nearly as noisy!

Awww! *hugs her*

Honey would love her. Honey likes to be friends with all piggies.

PS, I'm back with Honey! :D

Squeak!

I was just reading on wiki about the language of guinea pigs - wheeking, popcorning, squealing, tribbling... all of it cute!

Isn't it fascinating?!! :D

Honey is pretty quiet, mostly whines and bounces around.

Squeaker squeaks a lot, and tribbles, and sometimes huffles. Purrs too.

From: [identity profile] monsieureden.livejournal.com
Oh Honey purrs. I think she talks more than squeaks, but that might just be my interpretation...

I don't think she's ever whistled.

I think Squeaker might be capable of whistling, but I've never heard anything I'd call a whistle.

I do hear a lot of scuffling from that cage, though.

Have you given her carrots or lettuce yet? If so, she might start whistling whenever you open the refrigerator or rattle a bag.

Yes, I give her carrots every day. And there is a great deal of excited squealing when I get out the bag of carrots. She can sense it from the next room.

Haha, she's working on a whistle. They seem to do it more when they are in groups.

Date: 2006-08-10 12:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
To do the group thing at my place, she'll have to master taking human or budgie.

Date: 2006-08-10 04:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] monsieureden.livejournal.com
It'd be cute if she started making budgie noises!

Honey is so quiet, it must be because she's alone with me, but she's extremely active otherwise, so I know she's happy!

That said, she can be very noisy with the little noise she makes, primarily whining. I find that hilarious. She sounds like a two year old.

I suspect most guinea pigs are a lot more quiet than Squeaker is. I think she's at the far end of the 'noisy' spectrum for her kind.

Which is far short of the 'quiet' end of the spectrum for a budgie, and my little feathered guys specialize in rambunctious mayhem.

I bet you my mom's Sparky could beat her. I can hear him when I'm approaching her apartment door, from the outside.

From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
I don't think I can hear Squeaker through the outside door, but I'm not sure whether that's because she's too quiet to hear, or because she's so totally drowned out by budgie-song.

When I was preparing supper in the kitchen this evening, I could hear the budgies, rather loudly singing. Then in the middle of it was a beautiful shriek from Squeaker. I came out to check on her and she was fine - I think she just wanted attention, and wanted to be heard over the sound of the budgies.
