This story struck me as very bizarre and funny. What was Houdini thinking? Did the warmth of the blanket make him think the blanket was alive? Or was he just being greedy? Why am I reminded of the 'cat blanket' in the Lois McMaster Bujold's novels? I suppose in this case, it should be a bunny blanket.

Snakes are not smart, they do things like that, but yeah, one bite on loopy fabric and they're in trouble, nothing they can do about it. It's not natural for a snake to be on fabric, and the owner should have it on a heated rock or something more sensible.
Poor Houdini!

Date: 2006-07-21 04:06 pm (UTC)I can - I've been known to spit things out if they're really bad. Preferable to throwing up, I figure.
And if anyone tries to take food out of my mouth, they get hurt, too.
I wouldn't recommend that anyone try it... Just how sharp are my teeth?
I sympathise with the snake and his curvey little teeth
I certainly sympathize with the snake. All those little metallic bits... he's be a cyborg-snake.

Now you have me picture a happy Houdini with an interior heating system and an electrical plug sticking out of his tail for those chilly nights.

I believe you! I must confess it is a moment I like to listen to over and over.... Just one of those cute little favourites. Love the way the Doctor smiles there.
