On getting up (fairly early) this morning, I fed the birds, made some coffee, and watched last week's episode of Doctor Who, Army of Ghosts. Then I watched some Doctor Who music vids, made some oatmeal porridge, and settled in for Doomsday. Completely captivated.

It was brilliant. I loved it. I cried. They've been setting this up all season....

Best bits:
- the rebellious Cyberman fighting for Queen and County
- the Doctor's last few seconds with Rose
- the Doctor's line about hope - beautifully Tolkienesque

Funny and heartbreaking. What happened to Rose was more or less what I thought and expected - I'm so glad she didn't regenerate or die - but it happened so much better than I expected, even though I have faith in this show - well, I am thrilled. A huge salute of respect to Russell T. Davies for pulling this off. Really.

I quite liked -- not that I obsessively rewatched or anything -- the Doctor wiping his face with both hands, then clearing his expression. He hurts, but Let Us Never Speak Of It Again.

Oh, yes. He was perfect - all the way through. I liked the tear running down his cheek - after he disappeared to Rose.

I love how he does it like a child, smearing with both hands.

That was such a perfect, intense moment. Seemed so emotionally real.

I also loved the scene where the two of them lean against the wall. Separated by the massive wall between two universes.

David is simply marvelous.

That wall scene was heartwrenching and wonderful. And the way the Doctor walked away from the wall.... Oh my goodness. That was powerful.

I have so much praise for this episode! The leaning on the wall had me in tears, and the part when he's in the Tardis, alone. Kudos to both of them! (Wish the Bride hadn't turned up though, and they'd left us with the emotional punch of this tears)

Was the rebellious Cyberman meant to be Yvonne Hartman?

It was Yvonne. It was still her voice, "For Queen and country". And did you see the tear?

That tear was a magnificent touch. One thing I liked was that both the Cybermen and the Daleks are (heretofore, and apparently) group-mind entities who react to their programming or their group purposes. Then we get an individualistic group of elite-cabal Daleks with names, and a Cyberman who retains a good part of her identity and will. The individual triumphs over the programming - or is it that the living triumphed over the machine?

Yes, the rebellious Cyberman was Yvonne. Which was such a very beautiful, dramatic, unexpected touch. Yet another note that I loved and which broke my heart. She was so strong of mind she could break Cyberman programming and retain her own goals - at a suicidal price.

The leaning on the wall had me in tears

You and me both, but it wasn't the only scene where I was weeping.

Kudos to both of them!

Brilliant performances.

Wasn't it lovely?! And I'm glad Rose's family was reunited!

I was hoping Rose's family would be reunited, which would be so suitable for her, but I confess I couldn't think of a way that could happen. It was great to see Jake again - no offense to Mickey, but I like Jake better, maybe it'st he hair - or the accent.

Did you realise that was Yvonne? And she shed one tear down her metal face.

Yes, I knew it was Yvonne, that's why I loved it so much. With the oil tear - such a great touch. I thought Yvonne was a great character - so antithical from the Doctor, so annoying, and yet so distinctly herself. Like a terrible political opponent you admire - you can't admire their goals, but you can admire their dedication.
