Feeling much better today. At lunchtime, Lisa phoned and suggested that we go for a walk. It seemed like a good idea at the time, and I always enjoy a chance to see Lisa. Well, it was a tad on the cold side, especially since I'd left my thermal underwear in the washing machine. The wind was cold. We proved what hardy Canadians we were. Yup, anything for the sake of exercise.

I dropped into the library to see about a book I'd ordered, Caesar and Rome by Charlotte Bernard. I'd read it before, but I was looking for a quotation I hadn't seen elsewhere, so I'd requested it from the Hazeldean branch two weeks ago. According to the computer it's on their shelves, but now, two weeks later, it still hadn't come to me and wasn't even marked as 'in transit'. So the gentleman at my branch phoned the people at that branch and now it's on its way. Or so they promised. What, they just need to be prodded from time to time?

Lol. Hmm. We have different interloan systems, but the one in which patrons themselves can 'request' material (and view status on it) usually brings items to us within a day or so.

How strange for them to not have sent it! Does the library have a particular group system with local/regional libraries? We have one for Michigan and it makes things uber fast.

Usually the material turns up in a day or two, unless there's a waiting list for it - in which case you know from the computer listings. No, I think someone just somehow screwed up on the Hazeldean end. The book is supposed to be waiting for me at my branch today.
