I just watched the traier for Coriolanus. Oh how I have to see this! I hope it's as slashy as the script should be.

Wonder when it's opening.

8 p.m. on October 9, and it's 28C outisde. That's more than 80 degress Fahrenheit. This amazes me.

October 9 is a very special day for me. Not just it being Thanksgiving weekend, usually. It was my mother's birthday; and the birthday of the first woman I fell in love with; and the birthday of John Lennon.

It's my favourite time of year, too; we could call it my favourite weekend, no less so because it's usually the long weekend.

Happy October 9 to all.

[livejournal.com profile] dewline sent me a link to this interview with Chris Hedges about the American economy. I like it that he cited John Ralston Saul.

What's wrong with being left-wing? And why is it any better to call someone a nutbar than a crackpot?

Seems to me they were talking as if Canada were untroubled by recession. Huh. Seems to me that I, and millions of people like me, are struggling to find a job while the government and businesses respond to their economic problems by laying off more people. Something is wrong there.

This page made me laugh: An Architectural Pocket Dictionary. I particularly liked:

  • Colonnade: (noun) – A refreshing beverage made from Portland cement and limes.

  • Form: (noun) – To follow function.

  • In Situ: (noun) - From the Greek, meaning “I know a phrase from the Greek”.

Another fascinating article: a blind man who can see.

Amazing what the brain can do.

Tulips...

This Scandinavia and the World comic made me laugh, especially since it's Ottawa who gets those Dutch tulips, and vast beds of them are planted right next to my apartment.

And much appreciated they are, Sister Netherlands. Every May.
