Saw the movie
Layer Cake this evening. The reason for watching it:
Daniel Craig and his beautiful blue eyes, though it has a good cast which includes Michael Gambon, Sienna Miller and Burn Gorman. It's about a drug dealer in London who gets himself caught between various sets of gangsters and assassins, and has to think fast (repeatedly) to keep himself alive.
I'd hoped for something lighter and funnier: it's way too violent and bloody, and any humour is by way of being dark and ironic. Still. Daniel Craig is wonderful to look at. And the plot was interesting; every scene furthered the plot. Every scene made you think you knew where you were, and every scene then twisted the situation to put our (nameless) hero in a position worst than before. The speech which gives the movie its title is disappointingly lame. The best scene reminded me and
maaseru of
The Professionals.
And
Sienna Miller is pointless, but gorgeous. Actually... her
role does have a point. Ultimately. Besides her gorgeousness.
