Yesterday I posted about going to see Beowulf performed by the Ottawa Stilt Union.

My photos are blurry and sadly overexposed - it was very sunny! - but here they are:
  1. Beowulf fights Grendel

  2. Beowulf fights Grendel's mother, Mary. You'll just have to trust me that she looked like Miss havesham - all her lacy bits were too bright to show.

  3. Beowulf is triumphant

  4. Beowulf fights the dragon

  5. Beowulf and the Geats. The narrator is in front of Beowulf here.

fajrdrako: ([Doctor Who] - Ten and Martha)

I watched the Doctor Who episode "Blink" this evening. At the risk of sounding repetitive again, I loved it... )

From [livejournal.com profile] fannish5: What are the five most interesting uses of time travel?

Well - a question tailor made for a Doctor Who fan.
  1. To explore brave new worlds and to boldly go... places. (Cf. any episode of Doctor Who set in a strange, exotic place, like New Earth.)

  2. To mess with the heads of people who don't get it that you can be in the past and the future at, so to speak, the same time. (Cf. "Blink")

  3. To see historical events, e.g., the end of the world, or a Shakespeare play at the Globe Theatre in 1599.

  4. To meet interesting people. Myself, I'd choose Henry II Plantagenet and Eleanor of Acquitaine, Julius Caesar and Cleopatra, Shelley and Byron, and Emma Goldman. For starters.

  5. To give myself advice when young. Of course, I would never follow it.

From [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive:

1. Remember the scene with Molly Ringwald putting lipstick on by holding it in her cleavage? No. I don't even know who Molly Ringwald is. Name one really bizarre thing you know how to do. No matter how small. I don't know how to do anything bizarre. Or even strange. I can't even stand on my head any more. I have fairly dextrous toes, does that count?

2. What's your favourite way to pass the time? Writing in LJ. Writing anything. Watching Doctor Who and Torchwood. Writing about Doctor Who and Torchwood. Reading or talking about good books. Walking. Talking. Sex. Art. Travel.

3. What's your favourite restaurant and why? Sushi 88 on Somerset, because I adore their unagi on rice. I think I'm addicted.

4. Which TV/Radio show did you like that's not aired any more? Firefly, Stingray, The Professionals.

5. if you had a choice of learning another new language, what would you choose? Of modern languages, Chinese. Of ancient languages, Anglo-Saxon. what do you think that reflects about you? Too many languages, too little time.

I did this quiz twice - the second time because I didn't like the answer I got the first time. And then I got the same answer again, even though I chose (some) different answers.

It's gotta be fate. Malign fate.

Okay, I've already said that the Torchwood character I'm probably most like is Gwen, even though I'd rather be like Jack.1 I really hope I don't make all the really dumb decisions she does. Being cute, solving mysteries, and liking pizza is okay. Having a crush on Jack is okay. But I like Toshiko's boots: so there.
