In today's newspaper, my horoscope said I had "charisma and pizazz". Wow. I like that. All my friends had better look quick, though, if they want to see it - I think that's just for today. Tomorrow I'll be an ordinary mortal again.

As tarot reading sites go, this one is particularly fun to use.

I got this from [livejournal.com profile] dargie:

What type of Fae are you?

At first thought I was unenchanted with the idea of being any sort of a Fae - well, maybe someone cool like Auberon if written by Gaiman and drawn by Charles Vess - but then when I got the result, I like the idea of being a Nymph. So.

Hoping you have a magnificent, rich, creative year.

A wonderful evening.

After work, I made a brief but satisfying visit to the Silver Snail for my weekly comics, and then met [livejournal.com profile] commodorified at a local bookstore, where we found a treasure trove of second-hand Georgette Heyer paperbacks. Then we met Alayne and [livejournal.com profile] iclysdale for supper at The Vietnamese Kitchen, where we discussed Torchwood union regulations and high points of Captain Jack's dialogue. We agreed that Captain Jack's best line is, "Under any other circumstances, an exuberant Roman soldier would be my idea of a perfect morning." - though we had trouble remembering the key word 'exuberant' and I reserve the right to change my mind about this tomorrow.

After bubble tea for dessert (mango!), we went to the Clock Tower Brew Pub, where Guy Gavriel Kay gave a reading from his new book, Ysabel, which I had started reading, with great pleasure, at lunchtime. Beautiful, beautiful prose: I'd love it whatever the subject, but the subject is a medieval cathedral - among other things - so I'm enjoying it doubly. I didn't read far at lunchtime, though, only to about page 20, and Guy Kay read a section from a little further on, so it was delightfully new to me. I got his autograph on both Ysabel and his poetry book Beyond This Dark House, and a hug, which was even better, and a chance for a brief conversation.
