Got this from [livejournal.com profile] dolimir:

First Online Fandom:: Dorothy Dunnett, since I got my first computer and got onto the Net so I could talk to other Dunnett fans. And did. So Dunnetwork was born. My first online slash fandom must have been... What, X-Files? I forget what my slash fandom of the time was. My participation in fandom (including slash fandom) predates the Net by a wide margin.
Current Online Fandom: Smallville. Followed by The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean and Firefly.

First Fandom Crush: Hmm... depends when you count 'fandom' as starting. I was a fandom of one for various things. For participation with others.... Napoleon Solo, probably. For slash, undoubtedly Star Trek back in the seventies.
Current Fandom Crush: Michael Rosenbaum

First Fanfic Pairing You Wrote: Kirk/Spock. There weren't other slash fandoms back then.
Last Fanfic Pairing You Wrote: Clex. (Though I have works in progress with other pairings.)

THE FRIDAY FIVE

1. Are you superstitious?

No. But I believe in magic.

2. What extremes have you heard of someone going to in the name of superstition?

Avoiding walking under ladders? I don't actually know anyone who does that. (Thoughts of Bodie in The Professionals.) I don't think I know any superstitious people.

3. Believer or not, what's your favorite superstition?

That you can't name Macbeth but have to call it "The Scottish play". I also like the custom of saying "break a leg" regarding a role in a play, rather than "good luck".

4. Do you believe in luck? If yes, do you have a lucky number/article of clothing/ritual?

Luck is just another word for "chance", Yes, I believe in random happenings, good or bad. No, I have no lucky items. I like to think of everything I love as "lucky".

5. Do you believe in astrology? Why or why not?

"Believe" is too strong a word. It isn't a faith. I find astrology interesting. I do believe that people tend to fit the traits of their astrological signs; I can't imagine why that would be so, but to deny it for its irrationality is to ignore observed (or perceived) reality. I have considerable respect for astrology, though no interest in its predictive qualities.

I went to the fitness club today to do weights, and thought about how my 2004 programme has deteriorated. I haven't done crunches in days; it's the first time I've done weights this week; my diet has been all over the place.

I was enjoying it all, when I was doing it properly. Time to get back on track. I signed up for the rowing class again tomorrow.

So why did I start skimping and skipping? First, because with the Simple Steps programme and the yoga and the walking and working and sleeping I was running out of time in the day. I need time to read, write and do fannish stuff (like write in the LJ and read mailing lists). That isn't even counting the occasional movie, or watching Smallville, which is essentially the only thing I watch these days, though I do want to see that show about the Medici that was on PBS last week. I taped it.

So: something has to give just to fit things into the day. And what gave was... housework, first. Exercise, second.

I'll get it right. Time to start trying again.

Meanwhile, the weights were fun.

An odd day.

Things kept happening. Unusually bad things, unusually good things. For instance, I got three awful phone calls in a row, at work - one man badgering me for someone's phone number that I wasn't authorized to give out, he was incredibly snarky. Said, among other things, that I was "as bad as those dumbells in government offices" - and I thought, "Just why is it, sir, you think I should do you a favour?"

Then there were two mothers wanting to withdraw their daughters from the musical theatre classes with one day's notice. Two weeks notice is required for a refund. You can imagine how well that went over.

And I had enough work to do to fill three days.... or more.

But good things happened. A book was given to me - totally unexpectedly - a book I didn't anticipate, a book I can't afford, which is one of the things I most want to read in the universe right now: the new book by Guy Gavriel Kay, The Last Light of the Sun. Just when I had nothing to read at lunch break.

I ended up leaving work late to get things done, and had to wait ages before I got on the crowded bus from hell - but then I had a lovely dinner at Sushi 800 (near the corner of Bronson and Somerset), which completely cheered me up. Eels! Vegetable tempura. Heavenly.

What was that question about luck? I've always thought Friday the Thirteenth was my lucky day.
