Fanning my fannish excitement about the upcoming movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine, I was looking at screencaps of the trailer by mediocrechick. And I was thrilled to see this picture of Gamnit:



The stance, the motion, the staff, even the hair - perfect.

The film can suck (although I'm hopeful it won't) but if they give me one good Gambit sequence ...

Well, that's it. Hugh Jackman has already proved he does a good Wolverine, despite his good looks. The Wolverine story may be a mess, but if only they get Gambit right, all is forgiven... And there are many ways to mess up Gambit - a surprising number of which have already been done in various comics, worse luck. But visually and verbally, the trailers look promising.

Oh, how I hope!
