Consider: this particular SF Franchise is one created by a public broadcaster. So having our own public broadcaster in on the ground floor of its re-creation for modern times was - is - a point of some national pride, I think.
Good, good, good, good, good. They did it right. They didn't cut it, they didn't mess with the time they put it on, they didn't fail to advertise it.

I would say that if they'd treated it right. But they cut vast amounts of material out, the used an annoying CBC logo on top of the action, they advertised it badly, they skimped on the web page - all very annoying when the BBC treats it so well.

I don't think the CBC saw it that way. They should have.
I think there were those who wanted it seen that way. They were first overruled for reasons as yet unclear. And then the budget cuts started up again...
When I think of the days when they aired Captain Harlock as Albator, le Corsair d'Espace way the Hell early in the AM on CBRT, along with Cosmos: 1999...
