Date: 2009-03-27 12:44 am (UTC)Which, I suppose, is apropos. But I still liked the idea of CBC participating in the revival in the first place, and I would have preferred that the Doctor and his allies remained with them.
Consider: this particular SF Franchise is one created by a public broadcaster. So having our own public broadcaster in on the ground floor of its re-creation for modern times was - is - a point of some national pride, I think.

I would say that if they'd treated it right. But they cut vast amounts of material out, the used an annoying CBC logo on top of the action, they advertised it badly, they skimped on the web page - all very annoying when the BBC treats it so well.

I don't think the CBC saw it that way. They should have.

upcoming episode Utopia!! The preview made me realize how much I missed Jack...
It's so easy to miss Jack! (Though not so much, apparently, for the Doctor. He's in denial.)
Should I be watching Leverage? Is it good?

There is a chance to hear how Doctor Who is made, when BBC Radio 7 broadcasts a question and answer session with some of the production team this weekend.
The panel features current Executive Producer Julie Gardner, Director Euros Lyn, Production designer Edward Thomas, Brand manager Ian Grutchfield and Dalek operator Barnaby Edwards. They were recorded at the recent Celtic Media Festival held in Caernarfon in North Wales. Russell T Davies was due to attend but was forced to cancel because of his workload. Filming starts Monday for the next in the series of the four specials concluding the tenure of David Tennant as the tenth Doctor.
Questions ranged from why Doctor Who was not available in Lego to whether Matt Smith would cut his fringe before taking over from David Tennant as the Doctor and why the TARDIS is disguised as a police box.
The transmission is at 0000GMT on Sunday morning and is scheduled in a one hour slot. Radio 7 can be heard on digital platforms in the UK and around the world on the listen live facility. Following transmission the broadcast will be available as a podcast on the BBC Website.

Date: 2009-03-31 06:46 am (UTC)Leverage. *laughs* It caught my attention because Christian Kane (Lindsey McDonald in Angel and my current obsession *ahem*) is one of the leads, but I fell in love with show in general. Timothy Hutton is the main guy and perhaps the most well-known name. What's it like... I'd say "Ocean's 11" meets "A-Team" meets "Mission Impossible"? Basically a bunch of thieves/specialists doing Robin Hood stuff for kicks. High-tech cons, explosions, but also funny and witty. Suspend your disbelief and jump on the fun train, as John Rogers would say. (He's one of the producers, together with Dean Devlin.) So if you like that kind of show, yeah, you should watch. *g*
