Forbidden Planet is selling Captain Jack with the Doctor's hand. I love their accessories! Long coat, too. Problem is, it looks like Doctor Who series 1 hair mixed with the Torchwood look. Continuity glitch. I don't see anything that says how tall the figure is - five inches, probably.

It's the Hand. I love the hand. I love the coat, too, of course, just as Ianto does.

Maybe it's future Jack - he reverts to the hairstyle, a move which I thoroughly approve of. :) Though I can't remember if the hand still exists, and if it does, whether he still has access to it...

This (http://www.forbiddenplanet.com/products/35014/Doctor_Who_Series_1_2__3_Action_Figures_9th_Doctor_With_Accessories/Science_Fiction/Action_Figures/Doctor_Who/Product.html) is rather neat, don't you think?

I also like the one of Ten in the orange spacesuit from The Impossible Planet.

Future Jack? Now, that's an idea. Some intermediate stage between now and the Face of Boe...!

I love the figure of Nine. And the silly plastic arm to strangle people with. Too bad they aren't selling it any more. Why don't they take it off their catalogue? I'm glad I get to see it, but it's tantalizing!

As accessories go, the plastic arm and Mickey's head (Mickey's head!) are particularly inspired.

I miss Nine. Woe.

Yeah. I really, really, really miss Nine. I love Ten but not in the same way; he just never fit the same psychic parameters at all.

The Doctor's Hand...

I forgot to explain what happened to the Doctor's severed hand. Jack doesn't still have it. As a matter of fact, Rose does.....

Spoilers for Doctor Who 4x13, "Journey's End":

The Hand was on the TARDIS, where Jack left it after "The Last of the Time Lords" - he gave it back to the Doctor in "Utopia" because, after all, it was his. In "Journey's End" it was triggered by vortex energy when the Doctor was almost killed and was regenerating, and that energy linked Donna and the Hand and turned the Hand into a whole human being who looked just like David Tennant in a brown suit, and who had the Doctor's memories, but who was human and mortal. At the Doctor's insistence, Rose took him back into Pete's Universe with her.

So. No more Hand. Pity, that.

In a manner of speaking. LOL.

I still have very mixed feelings about 4x13. Not RTD's finest hour, IMO.

"Journey's End" was a storytelling mess. I don't like the fates of Rose or of Donna and the 10.5 Doctor was a strange thing. But it wasn't without its points of interest, and I never hated it the way I hate "The Last of the Time Lords". I think my main problem with "Journey's End" is that I really, really enjoyed "The Stolen Earth" and it was a let-down in comparison.

It should have two episodes, maybe, rather than one episode that was so packed with off-the-wall stuff that it didn't make a lot of sense.

:::flail::: Although, I already have the figure (Jack w/Webley) so I may have to pass for the time being... I'm still trying to get my hands on the Torchwood figures (it's taking forever for them to cross the pond.)

We'll see how long my order takes. I'm a little shocked at the cost of postage... but it seems to be the only way!

What did they charge you for postage? I keep thinking I should just crack down and order from them, but they don't come out and tell you what they will charge for postage and I can't help but feel I'll find a cheaper solution...Eventually.

I've been waiting for a cheaper solution for years now and I give up. Most Doctor Who toys have not turned up in Ottawa, or anywhere I could get them cheaper or more easily. I continue to look and I'm open to suggestions.

My current order - I don't have the figures in front of me, but postage was about 1/3 the cost of the order. Which really isn't so bad. I've had cases where it was equal to the order or more.

Looks like he's carrying a lantern. A handtern?

I bought a few things from Forbidden Planet for Christmas. They charged me £8 to ship a very light £12 purchase to the US (a calendar and a few stocking stuffers).

There's something oddly suitable about that. On a metaphysical, symbolic, semiotic, and supernatural level.

Yeah, overseas postage has become scary. I won't even tell you what it cost me to mail something tiny and light to Malta. (Multiple times the cost of the object.) Whatever the cost of mail from the UK, though, it's a lot cheaper than Canada Post. It's going up to 98 cents just to mail a card or a letter to the States. Almost a dollar!

That thought kind of puts the Forbidden Planet costs into perspective.

Postage is not logical.

Postage is appalling. Canada Post has gone from being a cheap, useful organization to being a purveyor of spam made of bits of dead trees. I am not impressed.

Eep. It's "only" 72 cents right now for US postage to Canada, and I was surprised to learn a couple of years ago that it's the same for a postcard or a letter. I expect it will be nearer to 80 the next time they hike the postage.

The exchange rate isn't that bad. Canada Post is just so horribly expensive. I know, it's because we're a big country with a low population density. Grump.

They put the prices up every year.

They had a strike last year, but service is so bad generally, no one noticed.

If I ever get a Captain Jack figure, that's the one I want! I made my own "hand in a jar" using one of Oz-from-Buffy's detatchable guitar hands and a tiny antique medicine bottle, but it's not quite the same. The Doctor didn't have navy blue fingernail polish.

The Doctor could have navy blue fingernail polish. As the mood takes him. I'm picturing Jack and Martha making him go out clubbing with them, dressed outrageously, tasting local culture.

Hee! That would be fun. They'd have to stop him from tying a necktie around his head.

Judging by what we saw in "The Girl in the Fireplace", I'm not sure they could stop him.
