I am in a state of fangirl glee: I just saw the trailer for the coming Wolverine movie. And it features Gambit. It hints at X-Men. We get Sabretooth, of course. It shows a number of people I ought to know or guess - but I can't tell which one is Deadpool. Who is the vampire at the end?

I'll have to see it to know, of course. But... Gambit and Wolverine! Even if the rest of the movie is terrible, we'll get Gambit at last. And Wolverine too.

I guess I should read Wolverine: Origins before seeing this.

Who is it that says, "Don't worry, we'll get him?" Is that Deadpool? Doesn't sound like Deadpool...

Another copy on YouTube.

The "diamond woman" is assumed by many to be Emma Frost. Not sure how close to the mark that guesswork really is right now...

Huh. Could be, could be.... But in the glimpse we see she doesn't have that femme fatale aura that Emma Frost gives off so convincingly. Still. It would be really fun to see Emma in the movie.

Nice theory, anyway.

Deadpool is the guy who is Ryan Reynolds and isn't wearing a mask or covered in scars so he's not actually very Deadpooly.

I don't know him; research is called for.

Well, no! And none of the dialogue had that outrageous Deadpool edge of inspired mania to it. Still, it's only a trailer - they couldn't show much of any of the characters.

Sadly the only knowledge I have about X-Men and co. comes from the movies - the comics are hard to get here and I just can't afford more expensive collecting... TV DVD sets are bad enough *g* but I like superheroes movies, I like Wolverine and Hugh Jackman, and since I loved the X-Men movies I'm definitely going to see this. Trailer looks great and I know that Gambit is a fan favourite - and he really looks cool! Comes in May, right? Good.

That's better than nothing! The movies are... odd variations on the comic book story. Though I like Hugh Jackman, and I think he does Wolverine's character well, it still bothers me that he isn't ugly and short! Ah, well. You can't have everything.

I know that Gambit is a fan favourite

He's certainly my favourite! Interesting too that the movie seems to feature Storm as a child - which fits the comic book story well, because she was a child when she (and we) met Gambit for the first time.

Gambit is so cool: I hope they do justice to him. Looks as if they might. I feel opimistic!

Hah! Go me! I thought "Storm?" when I saw the child - ok, white hair, not so difficult... *g* Who does the movie? It's not Bryan Singer, is it? But it looked really cool. Definitly a to-watch!

Yup! She has a very distinctive look. (I.e., gorgeous.) When Storm met Gambit in X-Men #266, she was regressed to the age of a child - about 9 years old, I think. Gambit helped her out.

No, and I'm rather relieved. I liked Bryan Singer in principle but I didn't like the way he handled action or characterization, and he minimized the women.

The director is Gavin Hood, whose work I don't know at all. The closest I come to having seen one of his movies is that I wanted to see Tsotsi but didn't.

The writer is David Benioff, whose work I don't know, but - this is interesting! - he's the one who is adapting The Game of Thrones for television. Cool.

GAMBIT!! ABOUT TIME TOO!

Ain't it the truth - ! Everybody's favourite Cajun at last. And those playing cards look damn good.

(Omigod: I just realized that Gambit has conditioned me to think that playing cards flying through the air is a really seriously sexy concept. He's given me a playing card kink, the fiend! Deserves thanks for that....)

Is Deadpool the guy with the swords? Minus scars and mask it's hard to tell.

Presumably Silver Fox is the one they're showing as Wolverine's dead wife. Cool.

Ugh. Remember pseudo-Rogue...? Sigh. Couldn't stand to see the same thing done to Gambit.

Did you see the trailer, though? That's not the impression it gives.
