World Enough and Time

maaseru has been telling all my friends that I got off the plane on Monday reeking of alcohol, and it may be true - okay, it is true - it's all the beautiful stewardess's fault. I drink so little, my friends all find it funny when I do.

When I had dinner with dargie, renka54, judymoe, glinda_north and agentxpndble, I had a Mojito for the first time. I'd heard about them. It was good, but a little strong for me - I coudln't finish it. Such a wuss.

But at the bar at the con I had two drinks which were spectacular: the Sonic Screwdriver and the Screaming Welshman. Both are very pretty. The Sonic Screwdriver is a sparkly blue and looks cool when you put your sonic screwdriver against the glass and turn on the light. The recipe is this:

Sonic Screwdriver

1 1/2 oz. vanilla vodka
1 1/2 oz Blue Curaçao
6 oz. clear lemon-line soda

Half fill a clear 6-oz glass with ice. Pour the vodka, Curaçao and soda over the ice. Stir lightly.

The Screaming Welshman was something the girl at the next table was drinking. She let me have a sip and I fell in love with it and ordered one instantly. I never knew the exact ingredients, and lawsontl is researching the matter. I can tell you that it was served in a martini glass and it was deep pink and it was gorgeous. Looked good with the sonic screwdriver light trick, too. Sort of purplish with the blue light.
