I took [personal profile] commodorified up on her offer of reading a story over the phone, and she read me a Vinyl Cafe story I'd never read before, in which Dave sets out to move an electrical outlet in the kitchen. It was delightfully funny and I am most grateful to [personal profile] commodorified for the laugh.

I love being read to. Good readers are worth their weight in gold. It's not like an audiobook - yes, I like them too, but that's a different kind of media. Having a person actually reading in person (even if on the phone a few miles away) is different, and better.

Today: I started cataloging my books. Yesterday I sorted them by author and subject, and put them onto the shelves. Today... well, writing down all the titles and authors into a spreadsheet on my tablet was harder than it sounds. I did two and half shelves - maybe 100 books - and decided to call it a day.

Made shepherd's pie for supper, in the slow cooker, with sweet potatoes. It turned out lovely.

Sheila, Ian and I watched an episode of Luther, which I didn't much like. I don't like stories about serial killers, and it was all rather dark and intense.

Audiobook du jour: "The Talisman Ring" by Georgetter Heyer.

Day 44 of yoga.

Day 127 of Duolingo. I've been doing Duolingo a lot longer than that, but I took a break for a couple of weeks back about 140 days ago.

World of Warcraft: Pet battles and archaeology, bringing Azurdil the Blood Elf Paladin to level 86.

Day 18 of quarantine. I was awake in the night, so I slept until nine.

- My morning Yoga was done with YouTube, using "Yoga with Adriene" - "Yoga for low back". I'm trying to strengthen my back and make it more flexible, and to eliminate back pain, especially sciatica. So far, it's going well. This was my 41st day of this particular series of practices. They say you start to really see a difference at 40 days. Do I? I've been noticing a real difference in flexibity, strength and concentration for the past two weeks, but today was a bit of a relapse - odd bits of pain interfering with the yoga, especially pain over the ribs. I adjusted accordingly.

- Phoned Maaseru in Halifax and we had a good chat.

- Day 125 of doing Esperanto on Duolingo, which won me an Achievement Award. Worked on it till I had about 100 XP for the day. I'm currently working on "People", level 4. I'm in the Obsidian League.

- Sorted and cleaned one of the kitchen cupboards, on that has been bothering me because it was potentially very useful, but full of old plastic containers and other messy odds and ends. It's whipped into shape now and I hope to keep it that way. We have made great strides on the kitchen in the past two weeks, my housemates and I.

- I've been doing Loren Crawford's 7 p.m. streaming yoga each evening, but he took a break today, so I did noe of his sessions from a week ago.

- Made spaghetti bolognese for supper, using the Ninja cooker. It came out superb (if I do say so myself).

- Watched "Hudson and Rex" with Ian and Sheila over supper, S2 E4, "Strangers in the Night". As with many episodes of that show, the plot turned out to be more interesting than it at first appeared. But who am I kidding? I watch for the dog and the great views of Saint John.

- A wonderful thing has happened, fandom-wise. Some friends of <[dreamwidth.com profile] thefairestone are doing a group reread of the entire Lymond series by Dorothy Dunnett, and invited me to join. Them. A few months ago I got the books on Audible, but hadn't listened to them yet. So I am both listening to and reading the first section of The Game of Kings, which has so many of my favourite characters - not just Lymond and Richard, but Sybilla, Christian Stewart, Turkey Mat, Will Scott, his father Wat, and his stepmother Janet Beaton. I haven't even got to the Somervilles yet.

It's a joy to have people to discuss these books with again.
