fajrdrako: ([Buffy] - Spike)

So [livejournal.com profile] commodorified, [livejournal.com profile] iclysdale and [livejournal.com profile] auriaephiala were over, with [livejournal.com profile] commodorified's mother. And they were talking about American politics. And stressing. So to unstress, we watched an episode of Due South ("The Witness"), and then wanted something else unstressful.

It was the diabolical [livejournal.com profile] iclysdale who suggested we should watch the Buffy musical episode, "Once More With Feeling". He claims he was not serious in the suggestion. Hah! It's no good pretending. Once suggested, it had to be done.

Now, this is several seasons past where I've watched anything. Spoilers? Nothing dire, or at least, nothing I understood; nothing I didn't already know about. I kept thinking, "But they all look so grown up!" Except Giles, who always did look grown up, and Spike, of course. Spike looks just the same: sexy and great. And of course I couldn't catch all the references, not knowing what's been going on, but that hardly mattered.

It was hilarious.

Even my stuffed crocodile and camel were dancing.

What glorious fun.

Once More With Feeling is my favorite Buffy episode! I have the soundtrack and I have every song memorized. Good times... :D

I would like to get the soundtrack, and I hope to have the songs memorized. But I'm afraid if I learn the words too well, there will be spoilers in them.

Not that this situation will last forever - at some point, I'll get there by the slow path.

Definitely wait until you've watched every episode before OMWF first because there ARE spoilers. FYI.

Okay: I will approach with care. No more spoilers!

I know a number of people who say that.

It's one of Tom's favorites, and yet he hasn't seen them all or even most!

I can well understand that. It's a delicious episode. I think my favourite part was the Anya/Xander song. It was just so loopy.

I'm looking forward to seeing it again. Finding time for Buffy - now, there's a thought.

The musical episode is fabulous! I am so glad even the toys were dancing! And the birds?

The birds were chirping. As they do.

I love that episode so much. And like many others, I do know all the words.

And you should instantly forget it because of spoilers! And then when you make it back to S6, it will come as a wonderful surprise all over again.

It gives me incentive to watch more quickly. On the other hand, I want to catch up in my comments to where I am in my viewing. If I get my act together, it shouldn't be much longer.

It's a wonderful episode, certainly in my top five. But it's jam-packed with spoilers! You just have to move on quickly to catch up and then you'll see what they are.

Let's see, the spoilers: off the top of my head:
- the presence of Dawn
- Willow and Tara as a couple
- continued sexual tension between Buffy and Spike
- Anya and Xander apparently engaged
And ancillary things such as 'who is still in the story and who isn't'. The setting was also unfamiliar - still Sunnydale, I suppose, but none of the backgrounds I recognized. Presumably Xander is no longer in his mum's basement.

But I'm not thinking about any of this, am I? No, no. Forgotten already.

That's some of them, yes. But there are others, which I'm not going to point out to you.

Did you know two of the "bit-part singers" are David Fury (the mustard man) and Marti Noxon (trying to bribe the parking attendant) who were both key writers in the show? You do now.

Good! Silence is golden.

I knew about Marti Noxon - not David Fury. How cool!
