The latest LJ newsletter cheerily suggests, "For those of you who feel a little daunted by 50,000 words in 30 days, why not try 30 blog posts in 30 days?"

Only thirty? I'd be rationing myself. Starvation rations.

It would be more of a challenge to cut down and and cut back, like for Lent.

How many posts have I done in the past thirty days? Really, I don't want to count.

Not sure that I'd want to count either. In my case, I think I've been more reticent about posting than perhaps is good for me.

Why? Do you think it's a good idea to write more?

On specific subjects, yes. Take the matter of movie theatres in any given neighbourhood for instance. I have a suspicion that one in my neighbourhood may be about to be cut loose by its current owner, and I see an opportunity there for expanding the range of venues for homegrown movies if the cards are played right.

Good! If you have something to say, say it! I look forward to it.

Yup. The Mayflower is going. I hope the Bytowne hangs in there.

Is the Mayfair really a certainty to RIP at this point? I'd heard reports that the push to get it certified as a heritage structure and to find new ownership for the place - particularly ownership friendly to keeping it operating as a repertory theatre - were on in a big way. Granted that the current financial craziness is going to complicate the latter quest, but I still believe it's worth undertaking.

I think at this point no one knows what will happen to the Mayfair. It depends, I suppose, on what the person willing or able to buy it wants to do.

You could write three hundred and they'd still all be fascinating reading :-)

Agreed (for the most part). I often skip posts as I don't have time to read them (and have little or *no* access to the Internet at work).

Limited time and limited access are always a problem.

How nice. I like that a lot.

Not sure I can maintain standards, but hey. I'm just doing my thing anyway.

And thank you, too.

(Giving me something to live up to, are you?)

I would also agree about your posts, though I usually skip reading about the fandoms I am not (yet) into like Torchwood. And, like [livejournal.com profile] dewline, I too have been rather reticent to post lately. Today was a bit of catch-up, but I have plenty more to scribble or post. [I even have an SF story to tell, but that story will not be going into a graphic novel; it's just a short story, though it may be the lead-in to a much longer novel or novelette at some point.]

Understandably. No one reads about fandoms they aren't into or don't know.

I have plenty more to scribble or post.

Good! I look forward to that.

I think writing is good for the spirit.

Ah, but you have missed the occasional day. I think the point is to post at least once on every day in the month, not just a total of more than 30 posts over 30 days. It is the at least once per day which is the catch.

Yes. In fact I think I've missed at least two days this month. But I bet there are months when I haven't missed a day.

Probably on those days I missed, I was just too busy to post. At the same time, I don't want to post when I have nothing to say. That would be pointless. That would be, ultimately, drivel.

I managed to do the NaNoBloMo last year, and plan to try this year. I managed to find something for each day. Sometimes commentary, sometimes a quiz or meme. But I do know what you mean.

I managed to do the NaNoBloMo last year,

Cool!

I'm happy to do it.

I looked back in my archives; I had a post every day from January to March, though on March 31 I broke my ankled and [livejournal.com profile] maaseru kindly posted for me. In April, with her help, and May, I didn't miss a day, but in June I skipped the 16th. Missed two days in July, one in August.

Just to prove I'm not obsessive. (Not all my friends fall over laughing.)
