I highly recommend Chank Fonts, too (here (http://www.chank.com/freefonts.php) for the free ones at their site). (Chank is a type designer most known for his fonts he created for Taco Bell, among others.)
And all of Larabie Fonts are free in TT format if you get them here at My Fonts (http://www.myfonts.com/browse/foundry/larabie/) (myfonts.com). They're a professional design house, and I recommend them highly.
If you're looking for something special, mail me in LJ, eh? Remember, this is part of what I do for a living: I typeset for the "big houses" and so have the ahem wherewithal to find what you need.
I have a number of links, including lots of mediæval (handwriting included), Fraktur, and Art Nouveau: Urban Fonts (http://www.urbanfonts.com/) Free Fonts (http://www.fontstock.net/) Fonts by Theme (http://moorstation.org/typoasis/themes.htm) Simply the Best – Gothics (http://simplythebest.net/fonts/gothic_fonts.html) Fontage – Art Nouveau (http://www.fontage.com/artnouveau.html) Blackletter Revival (http://moorstation.org/typoasis/blackletter/index.htm) Pia Frauss Fonts (http://www.pia-frauss.de/fonts/fonts.htm) Manfred Klein (http://moorstation.org/typoasis/designers/klein/index.htm) Dieter Steffmann @ typOasis (http://moorstation.org/typoasis/designers/steffmann/index.htm) Dieter Steffmann (http://www.steffmann.de/) Paul Lloyd (http://moorstation.org/typoasis/designers/lloyd/index.htm)
It's a measure of how distracted I have been for years ... I used to enjoy browsing font archives (but that was before free TrueType and Adobe fonts came along).
