If anyone has been paying attention (and no reason they should), I've been playing with my LJ headers lately. Making some - lacking both talent and good software, but having fun anyway. I love the original Jack/Nine header that

Date: 2008-10-23 02:49 pm (UTC)Should I be saying something besides "It's beautiful"? What more did you intend to do? I'm tempted to say, "Don't touch it, anything more would ruin it," but I don't know what you have in mind.
Can I ask how you did it, if it can be simply described? What art/photo program are you using?

Date: 2008-10-23 03:07 pm (UTC)I don't know is it too yellow? Or anything like that? Or maybe it is very pixelly in places I haven't noticed? I don't know *flails*
Background texture layer, a couple of layers with a differnt images of Nine (the ones on the right), another different texture layer, and then a final image of Nine - which was a happy accident if I am being honest.
Okay, so there was a chunk of fiddling with the texture layers and there were mask layers and the eraser tool was involved as well :D
I am using Corel's Paint Shop Pro X2 (or in proper language 12 *sighs*) I recently finally updated from my very old copy of PSP 8 which I've been using the last couple of years.

It is very yellow, but I wouldn't say 'too yellow'. It had me thinking of the sunshine of other worlds. Not an unpleasant look. No pixel problems that I can see.
I really like the shadow behind the image of Nine on the left.
The one in the middle - there's a bit of grey behind his head that doesn't quite look right as a shadow or effect and should maybe be removed or blurred or brightened. Also a similar grey line from his cheekbone to his lapel just to the left of his face - it should either be more transparent or removed, as it distracts.
I also really, really like the blurred effect at the bottom of the picture under the left-hand image of Nine.
Thanks for explaining the process. I really really would love to get Corel Paint Shop Pro now that I have a nice new computer that it would work on. But... it would take time, and I keep wailing that I don't have enough time to write. What's a person to do? (Rhetorical question: don't bother answering.)

Ask for it for Christmas?? ;-)
