fajrdrako: ([Heroes] - Peter Petrelli)
[personal profile] fajrdrako

Okay. Despite my trepidation, Heroes caught my attention again. Big time.

Loved the kick-ass look of Claire from the future in the first scene. I got very impatient with Claire last season; she turned from a heartbreaking hero in vol. 1 to a bratty teen in vol. 2. Looks as if she's reset at 'interesting' again.

Don't know how coherent these comments will be....
  1. Noah Bennet is back on the loose, is loving to Claire, and I'm happy.

  2. We have not one but two Peter Petrellis. I like the sexy scarred futuristic one. And one, by the magic of superhero TV, is Weevil from Veronica Mars. I love it. This theme reminds me of vol. 2 with Peter among the Irish gangsters: how does sweet Peter keep ending up int he company of lawbreakers and evildoers?

  3. Love the way Nathan revived. First I just thought Linderman was revived from the dead, and saved him with his powers, and the rest was a cover story. But ... no one else can see Linderman, and it isn't a cover story, and why is Nathan talking about God like someone out of Battlestar Galactica?

  4. So people with powers are persecuted in the future: that's sheer X-Men. I kept expecting to see people with a big M on their faces, and Bishop with his big gun.

  5. As [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi commented, looks as if this season it won't be Peter who keeps losing his shirt, but Mohinder. Mohinder, beautiful man with a beautiful face but he's surely the dumbest guy on television. That's okay. He can read Yeats to me anytime. It was fun seeing him with Spider-Man powers, too. And Maya was... okay, not interesting, I wouldn't go that far, but sexy and less annoying than usual.

  6. What happened to Matt and Mohinder living together and taking care of Molly? Have I forgotten a plotline?

  7. Loved Nathan playing chess with the ghost of Linderman. Am I the only fan who thought of Charles Xavier and Magneto? Of course, that's half the fun of this show. All the recognition factor, in bits and pieces.

  8. You know something is weird when Nathan and Peter are in a scene together and they aren't touching each other.

  9. Hiro is back with Ando! Yay! And there's an element of mistrust now. Very, very interesting.

  10. When Ando and Hiro went to the Daphne's lair in Paris, I thought of Amanda from Highlander. [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi thought of Dorian from From Eroica With Love.

  11. Daphne was very, very cool.

  12. Was it just me, or did Elle seem much more sympathetic and less psychotic? Is she being written out of the show, or just being given another purpose?

  13. I continue to adore Angela Petrelli. She's scary and wonderful.

  14. Y'know, if I was Claire, I'd be happy to not have pain. Of course, she's a teen: morbid and morose. Not happy unless she's unhappy. And... rather lovely anyway. I enjoyed the scary scene where she was hiding from Sylar in the closet. So she can't die? Shades of Captain Jack Harkness. She'd need claws to be like Wolverine.

  15. Loved the encounter between Nathan and Tracy. "Hey, didn't we have hot sex back in Vegas?" Love the way they wrote the whole encounter. "I have a proposition for you." I'm still not much of an Ali Larter fan, but I like her better now than when she was Niki or Jessica. What is she, clones? Jamie Maddrox?

  16. I wasn't even annoyed by Sylar this time. Everyone became more interesting. I liked his final encounter with Angela.

  17. I liked the business of Hiro's father telling him not to open the safe, knowing he would then do so.

  18. Claire's mother looks scary here.

  19. I even enjoyed Matt's scenes. Africa? Huh.

Yeah you love how the first bit of dialog with Mohinder and Maya (after she nearly beats him with a cricket bat, what is this, Torchwood 2x02? No wait that was a hockey stick... Though the image of Mohinder in croquet gear amuses me too much :D) was them basically explaining they packed Molly off and sent here away so as to not get in the way of potential sexinz *laughs*

You know something is weird when Nathan and Peter are in a scene together and they aren't touching each other.

I love how in spite of everything, Future!Peter still clawed at himself for Nathan's acceptance even to the point of ripping the space/time continuum and explaining about him being from the (now alt!) future. And lots of kissing! I know they're Italian but those two give the Winchester boys a run for their money in the UST love game

And Matt in Africa was awesome :D 'Oh thank you Mr Turtle!!' And always, always Angela will be made of win. Hell, its not often I adore the villain more than the heroes but nothing made me giddier than seeing Sylar strut down the street in broad daylight getting the first taste of immortality :D Then beating down Company workers~

Hee - that was my first thought. "Cricket bat, Ianto's weapon - no, wait, he uses a hockey stick" - ahh, the sublime violence of sport.

Trading Molly for sex is not, in my opinion, a bad thing, as the plot goes.

Angela is just brilliant. I love her scenes.

I think she's Nikki actual twin Jessica - she isn't really dead. I think AL has done an excellent job of differentiating between the three characters. Great acting! :) She and Angela were actually the most interesting people to me last night.

Someone over on tor.com suggested or relayed a suggestion that Niki's power is to become whatever the people around her expect her to become, and the Greatest American Hero called her an ice queen.

Interesting! I hadn't thought of that. :)

That would be a really interesting power. I guess we'll find out who or what Tracy/Niki is - and you know, I really love it that they have me guessing.

It does have the unfortunate element of making Niki merely a reflection of those around her.

Makes her less of a person in her own right - though it all depends how it happens, too. The 'ice queen' thing must mean something, though it may not be simply causative - ?

It would be in keeping with how female characters are treated on the show. Remember when Peter had a girlfriend that he was desperate to save from the terrible future that she was trapped in? The writers don't.

Girlfriend, what girlfriend? ...Oh, that girlfriend. You know, when you live in multiple timelines, I guess you end up misplacing girlfriends all over the place. It's just so hard to keep track, especially when your brother is in troule... Even if he's in trouble because you figure that shooting him would be a good idea.

Frankly, I'm just as glad to pretend the Irish girl never happened to Peter, but ... she did. That should at least be addressed. (Peter could shed a tear, sometime when he isn't too busy worrying about Nathan?)

I actually liked Simone, who will probably never be remembered again. This show goes through female characters like used kleenex.

Good thing Claire is indestructible.

Tracy is Jessica? Could be! I'm eager to find out.

I thought Nathan and Angela were the most interesting.

why is Nathan talking about God like someone out of Battlestar Galactica?

Based on some of the things future!Peter was saying later, I think perhaps he was using Matt's mindbending power to mess with Nathan's head so that he wouldn't just go back to announcing the presence of the heroes to the world like before.

From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
Hmm: good theory. I like that one. Though I think it would have been more sensible of Peter to have gone back to talk to Nathan, say, half an hour before he was going to make the speech, and to have used the mind-bending powers then. Save the trouble of shooting anyone.

Maybe he thought that was too chancy.

Well, and I don't think future!Peter is any too sensible. I think that the future has probably driven him to desperation and/or insanity. Of course, he wasn't exactly good with making sensible plans before.

Date: 2008-09-24 02:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
No, sensible planning has never been Peter's best thing. He's a passionate, act-before-you-think kind of guy. And desperate? Yeah. Dramatic? Yeah. Melodramatic? Whenever possible. It's why I love the boy.

I've posted a couple of Heroes links in your birthday thread. Mohinder is just pathetic to me now, and Maya should have stayed dead. I adore the Bennets. As for the other plot lines, I'll comment on them when I have a better sense of where they're going.

Date: 2008-09-25 12:35 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
I agree that Maya should have stayed dead... In fact, I'm not quite sure why she's alive, in terms of plot. Is here any point? I wrote off Mohinder back when he betrayed Bennet, and though I still love his looks and his voice, he makes me roll my eyes and groan in terms of what he does and says.

I really have no idea where they are going with most of the plotlines - this would be good if I had more faith. As it is, I wait and see!

Maya should be given something to do that other than be a burden for her brother to bear or arm-candy for Mohinder. This might involve her going back home to face the entirely legitimate manslaughter charges (and in at least one case, murder charges).

The writers who thought "Hey, you know what would be a cool idea? A pair of illegal immigrants whose super-power is that they spread disease!" should be lightly beaten and their Minute Man membership cards burned.

Not the best story idea ever, no. In fact... maybe on the short list of the worst.

Overall? Loved it all... though I'm worried about Mohinder. All he has going for him is pretty. If he loses that, what good is he?

And I also wish Claude had been brought in to "train" Claire rather than her mom. Don't get me wrong, her mom's interesting, but... but... Chris? Please?

I wouldn't write Mohinder off yet. He isn't stupid, he just acts that way. [g] He can learn.

Yes, I miss Claude desperately! I keep pretending he's there, where we just can't see him. I'd love to see him working with Claire.

I'll try to believe you about Mohinder. I really do *want* to believe. lol

Claude is there in my head too. Of course, Peter's there with him, and there's lots of nudity, but that's a whole other issue ;)

We all want to believe about Mohinder... he doesn't make it easy.

The Claude and Peter: yes. Happy smile.

Is there evidence for this?

Let me think...

... No direct evidence.

You've got me there.
