I think I did too much.

I'm just getting over a chest cold - spent a lot of the weekend asleep. Got home from work today to find half a dozen toilets in boxes stacked outside my apartment door, and a note stuck in my door saying that they would be replacing my toilet tomorrow, asking me to please make sure the bathroom is clear and accessible and to make sure my dog doesn't try to attack them when they come into the apartment. Since I don't have a dog, this is not a problem. The budgies will be glad of the company.

I assume I am not getting all six toilets. I think they're for all the apartments on my side of the building.

I then walked to my Tai Chi class, because Beulah is busy elsewhere this evening. Tai Chi was terrible - not because I was tired, but because I'd missed last weeks classes because of my cold and I was lost. Hard to catch up three lessons in one. Then I bought groceries. Then I walked home - it's mucht more walking than I've been doing. The ankle is tired and complaining.

Then I decided to clean out the bathroom.

Now, it isn't that it was such a mess. It wasn't. But I did have a piece of deteriorating furniture - a cabinet above the toilet with four shelves - that I decided I ought to get rid of before it actually collapsed. So that meant emptying the thing, dismantling it, and carting it down to the trash room in the basement.

Now I'm happy about the bathroom, but I'm beat.

The apartment is shaping up, though. Remember my project of getting rid of one thing per day? Well, I'm exceeding quota. Over the weekend I cleaned my bedroom closets out and gave the unwanted stuff to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation - two bags full. Today I got rid of that bathroom cabinet and half its contents. Progress!

One bag for the CDA tomorrow, and another for the OPL Main Branch bookstore this past Saturday. At this rate, I'm still behind by a decade or two.

But it sounds as if you're catching up fast!

I dunno. Next up after the CDA pickup is a batch of 15-year-old back issues of Sky & Telescope. And the basement library room is still packed to the rafters. :-(

Just keep on going, one step at a time. It becomes easier as you continue. Or at least... it did for me. For one thing, you can see progress. For another, you learn to deal with priorities.

I'm sorry you had a less than wonderful tai chi class... but congratulations for walking there, wow.

Do you think the budgies would enjoy having a dog visit them? Just wondering.

I ran across a veterinarian/pet-store magazine at work today, with an ad in it showing first a person's hand with lots of gauze wrapped around the end of one finger, side by side with a photo of a happy woman and a happy child holding a happy ferret who was wearing a silly little Paddington Bear raincoat-hat... and the caption was, "Do your clients get THIS... or THIS...?" It was an ad from a ferret breeder whose little creatures are apparently well known for their mild temperament and curiosity! I thought it was adorable. Such a creative ad! A ferret (or my little tiger cat) might have thought it up.

I am now entertaining thoughts of your tiny bathroom with six commodes festooning all available space on the floor and walls. Whoa. It's art.

I am quite amazed at your clearing-out engergies, too. Good for you. But, as you already said, right now you're running ahead of schedule and you can rest a bit! Listen to your foot!

Tai Chi will improve. The teacher is very encouraging - "just fake it" she tells us cheerfully. And we do, with rather confused expressions on our faces. I need lots and lots of practice.

I think the budgies would find dogs interesting; not as interesting as other birds. Cats scare them.

I don't think I could fit six toilets into my bathroom. Maybe if they were stacked. Or if you took out the sink and bathtub.

I hope to rest tonight.

Indeed, your teacher sounds delightful. And as you practice, you'll get closer and closer back to your point of balance, I know.

The budgies always seemed a bit overwhelmed whenever I'd sit close to their cage and look directly at them. I was trying to see their colors and lines and forms, of course, but when I do that my gaze is very intense, I know. They would get quiet. And carefully look back. As if waiting for me to not be doing that. I didn't mean any unease -- so, when I realized the situation, I stopped trying to get better looks at them... alas. So I don't now really have much of a visual memory of them. Anyway, I'm thinking, maybe that's part of the "cat" side of me? ha

Oh, indeed you could fit six toilets in your bathroom. Not all of them on the floor, is all. I'm thinking attached to walls and ceiling. The sink and bathtub can stay. In fact, the shower curtain would be a definite part of the overall effect.

I hope you did get some good rest. I'm feeling well-rested right now, myself, after six days of running on exhaustion (not quite sure why -- little cats continually waking me up? probably), and I'm looking forward to my two days off: have a list in my pocket with all kinds of chores and errands on it. Hope I still feel this motivated in the morning!

The teacher is great. And she keeps telling us to 'practise, practise, practise'. Which is exactly what we need. But it's difficult to practise when you aren't sure of the sequences yet.

The budgies don't mind being looked at, I'm sure. They like attention. Being silent isn't a sign of something being wrong. Sometimes they are just silent.

I'll settle for one toilet, which is enough. I moved the picture of Rose and Nine (the one that says 'BAD WOLF') to hang above it, and put Captain Jack and Captain John in the space where it had been.

Hope you enjoyed your time off, and got some chores done.

My time off ended up mostly being sleep. Puzzling. But I did seem to need it, so I made like a pussycat... one of whom was curled up on me during most of the napping! Fluffy little tiger with orange highlights, who clearly feels very safe around me, aww.

Today at work there was not much work to be done, so I asked to leave early and ended up at the union office to do sec/treas work [g]... and it's kinda raining out there, feeling fall-ish. Nice.

Things are strange, here. Reality won't stay stable. That's how powerful our rumor-mill is: every day a new wave of "guess what's gonna happen!!" comes around, and enough people repeat it (or parts of it) that the things that the sensible ones among us know to be true keep seeming less and less solid. I don't like it. Being around anxious people in solid groups -- not fun.

Going home to my safe little cats, now!

Everyone I know is sleeping a lot right now, or wanting to. Some because we have colds. Some just from tiredness - I think the equinox trips some interior signal within us that craves sleep.

Reality is never stable.

I certainly hope all six aren't for you [g].

And I'm impressed with your energy. You sound so much better than you did even two months ago.

Can't think where I'd put them...

Ye, the energy is better. Better all the time. With any luck I'll soon be getting the muscles to catch up.

Beware the attack of the Ninja Budgies! *g*

Seems like *everyone* all over the world has a cold right now - it's a conspiracy... Feel better soon!

Oh, and the Torchwood soundtrack CD is out - got mine just now in the mail! 32 pieces of score, and I'm particularly thrilled that Owen's theme is on it - the one that's playing throughout the episode with the dying guy and the alien device, where he's on the rooftop with the woman who wanted to jump. Such a simple melody and it gets stronger and stronger. Beautiful! Can't wait til I get home and can hear it in full!

I'm sure they are fixing hteir masks and sharpening their knives even as we speak.

Too many colds. Is it an equinox sort of thing?

I can hardly wait to get (and hear) the Torchwood Cd. And the new novels coming out soon. I know we just had Lost Souls two weeks ago but I keep craving more.

I guess that's my cure to write more fanfic - ! It helps keep the craving at bay.

*hugs*

I laughed out loud when I got to the thing about the toilets because them trying to give you all six would not be outside the realms of possibility!

Well done for getting rid of stuff though :D

This is true. Lucky I didn't have nightmares about that.

When I left for work this morning, there were workmen uncrating the things in my hallway. "Is that one for me?" I asked hopefully, and the man said, "You'll get one of them."

Not that I could tell one from another anyway.

I'm very happy about my current state of decluttering. Now that there's less in the bathroom, my Jack and Ten figures, and the pterodactyl, stand out all the more!

I did move one framed picture of Jack and the Doctor from the bathroom to the bedroom. It was one of the publicity still for "Utopia".

Wait- You have a pterodactyl??

In my bathroom? Yes, I do.

My bathroom has my Torchwood and Doctor Who art on the walls - a picture of Ten, a picture of Nine with Rose, the Torchwood 2008 calendar (with Jack as that September picture), and a portrait of Captain Jack and Captain John. Then by the mirror over the sink I have the action firgures of Ten and the Jack - the original Jack, in the RAF outfit. The pterodactyl, more or less to scale, flys above them.

I posted a picture of the whole thing on LJ when I set it up, but I can't think how to find it now.

There's these things? They're called 'tags' and you can use them to label your entries...
And this other neat little do-hickey called memories....

*ducks low flying pterodactyl*

Pterodactyl decor...

I am quite fond of it, actually.

There's these things? They're called 'tags' and you can use them to label your entries...

Yeah. And then you have to remember what you called the tag. There's nothing under 'pterodactyl', clearly an oversight. Or 'bathroom'. Waaait a minute... I called it 'photo'. Yes! Here it is! (http://fajrdrako.livejournal.com/597684.html)

The tag might very well have been "Myffanwy," huh?

Could have been, but wasn't. And "Captain Jack Harkness" gets me only too many references.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I think we can all see how it would :D

And yay you gave Myfanwy a 'friend' in the mirror - I shouldn't be surprised by that should I? You own real birds :D

Well of course, I want Myfanwy to be happy in my apartment. She has Jack and Ten and the pterodactyl in the mirror to amuse her.

We'll hope they don't. I talked to them about how they can attack their millet and their piece of bok choy, but workmen who are doing something nice for me should be protected. I hope they listened. Listening isn't their best thing.

We'll see what's in the mail today.
