In the Beginning

"Ta-DA!" cried the Doctor.

The TARDIS doors swung open. Jack grabbed for the doorframe - not because there was danger, but because every instinct resisted falling out while reeling at incalculable velocity.

Jack stared at the birth of the universe.

"Well?"

"It's kind of... Tiny, isn't it? Faint?"

"Yes! That's the point! It's the beginning of everything, the explosive moment of awakening force when it's all starting - your universe, time, space, light, chip shops, and that comedy about dead parrots -"

Jack grinned. "Your Big Bang's just a feeble whimper."

"That's the cosmic secret, Jack. Infinite potential."
