Friends are family. Who says that "family" has to be blood relations, or else only certain legally-recognized relationships? Just a thought.

So they say, but I see a value in having two different words and concepts for blood-relatives and chosen friends.

Ok, I see that. But right now my brain's too fried to be able to chat about it. I actually don't think there should be that kind of distinction, as too often it ends up being the basis for someone's assumption that acquired-family members are somehow not as real as blood-family members. But that's me, I'm touchy about that.

When I have no family members at all, there aren't any people to make a distinction about. So it doesn't bother me in the least.
